The android marketplace also has a Google Voice app that enables you to text message for free. Saving $10 a month (the cost of my text plan) justifies the cost of the new phone in just 1 year.

    6 days and counting...

I always refer to that as the Zach Morris brick phone.

Actually the Nexus one is made by HTC and just branded by google. This is why the phones are so similar.

Awesome!! Keep us updated on how things go with these.

I just got my current non-data phone last year and probably gonna wait another year (contract) to get new phones again. I'm thinking about doing the data phone/thing next time.....just depends on how much more it'll cost. I might want to spoil myself. I work a lot of weekends damnit and I deserve it.

Question for you guys.... I've never had a reason to have a smartphone and all the data stuff. I'd love to have it and play around with it. However - say for instance, you spend 6 months with it and you don't use it as much as you thought you would. Could you own a smart phone and turn off the data but keep most of the functionality of the smart phone? (talking Verizon here)

Yes but I'm not sure how much functionality it will have. It will definitely make calls but you can't access the internet without being charged. My wife has a smartphone and does not have the data plan. When our daughter (2yrs old) plays with the phone, we occasionally get charged for "data usage". There is no way to shut it off. She has racked up charges when her purse presses buttons too.

On Verizon, the data plan costs $29.99 for unlimited usage. You can get a cheaper plan but are limited.

    Thanks!
That makes sense. My husband did say it's $30 a month for his phone. We're suppposed to get a 'discount' for working where I do - so they say.
But if yours is $30, doesn't seem like there's any discount ... Hmmm...

I would assume a lot of the app's regularly get 'updates' from the internet also. So a lot of the app's would suck up internet time/usage. I might just have to get into some new habits, like carrying the thing with me all the time (instead of in my purse :D )

I just checked my email and expect to have it at 4:30pm on Wednesday, April 28th - a day earlier than I was expecting :)

I had been waiting 2 1/2 years with my current phone. It's an awesome and slim phone and I was waiting for the right phone to replace. I thought about the Droid last year but wanted to hold out for something better. I used my old $100 new every 2 credit and got this guy for $100. I think I'll be happy with my decision come Wednesday!

Looks like Google is forfeiting its efforts to bring the Nexus One to Verizon. It ain't gonna happen and I'm glad I pre-ordered the Incredible. Wednesday can't get here soon enough!

Awesome...I am so freaking anxious to get home and begin playing. I'll probably charge it up for about 20 minutes before I begin setting it up.

Tracking says its "on FedEx truck - out for delivery". I told my wife to stay home to sign for it.

Also, I am learning a lot over at AndroidForums.com. They have a section dedicated to the Incredible. Threads get a TON of activity. Like before you can type a response, 5 others have already posted. Really amazing how many phone fanatics there are out there!

On the phone with Verizon right now trying to get the discount accessed by SMART30.

Working a little magic but they are putting up a fight. We'll see...
