Was doing some Black Friday shopping around for Morimoto XB lights and I saw a gen 2 version on sale on Lightwerkz. They advertise better low and high beam performance. With their 20% off Black Friday deal the total comes up to $1000 versus the $920 price tag for the gen 1 version and I think I may just bite the bullet. Anyone have any input before my wallet has something to say?

I'm only seeing these for 1,000. Is there a specific promo code that works for these?

Crap. Late to the party. Ended up biting on the $1,000 price for the 2nd gens.

I forget where I read it in TW, but I believe someone mentioned the V2 dumps a lot of foreground light to match the Alpha Rex. If true, the distance lighting will be worse than V2.
@crashnburn80 should be able to confirm if the info I read somewhere on this forum is correct.

The lights sound promising with improved low beam and high beam output. Unfortunately Morimoto also states they have 'increased the foreground light', which is not actually a good thing. I have them inbound, watch for them in the 3rd Gen headlight thread.

I didn't see that. :facepalm:I just saw improved light output and jumped on the deal. Like you, I got the 2nd gens. Fingers crossed they perform at least a little better.

The Ford Raptor LED and Halogen lights are given the worst possible rating by IIHS, as literally a horrible performing unsafe headlight. By comparison the Tacoma LED headlights are given the highest possible rating by IIHS as an absolutely outstanding headlight. Not saying the new Morimotos are not great as I look forward to testing them myself to back statements with data, but our Toyota community might therefore have a much higher bar than your Ford community.
