New VFtune install

Okay, so I've ordered OVtune but I'm having issues with the download and Registration. As far as the download goes my desktop shortcut will not work, it says the program has been moved or something. When I enter my master key/password etc to register nothing happens. Apparantly the program should open but in my case nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?

 

the antivirus is preventing the program from opening. you gotta disable it. also after you do that it takes a couple minutes for it to open up in windows 10 for whatever reason. i just got ovt and put it on a brand new laptop and had the exact same thing happen to me. that was my solution.

Okay, time for the next dumb question. Since I’m already registered, how do I open the program?

 

Click on VF tune. Wait about 1 and half minutes. The grey icon.
The OV tune in orange if you loaded it is pretty quick, and you can flash from either one.
VF makes the tunes editable.

Makes sense. I was looking for the VF tune icon and couldn’t find one. The orange Toyota flash icon opened up. Thanks again.

 

I've been using a computer that is older and has very little RAM. When I click the VF Tune icon I basically walk away for about 5 minutes and come back once the program has opened. The first few times I tried I clicked the icon 3 or 4 times...turns out the computer was trying to open multiple instances of VF Tuner, so it took forever.

Long story short, give the app a few minutes to load. It's not instant if your computer is a little slower.

 

Thanks, since the desktop short cut didn’t work for me I’m working straight from the vftune folder and trying to figure out what’s what within that folder. I’ve got it figured out and have sent in my system id. Thanks again for all the help.

 

Yes. @OVTune is aware of this and is working on the fix.

 

dont worry. its not quick to open if your computer is new either. my laptop has 32gb of ram and it still took over a min to open up lol.

 

It's a Windows 10 thing. Not a computer hardware thing.
Windows 10 has some annoying executive controls on allowing apps to load things, or retrieve things from other folders. It doesn't like us pre loading our def files.
Tested on Windows 7 and the app opens in 5 seconds.

 

In the end, both vF and FM are not big resource draws and work great on all machines once loaded.

 

Would it be possible to either forego the preload until the main app window is displayed? Otherwise, could you add a splash screen? Both options would allow you to display a progress bar or some other UI element to the user to let them know windows 10 is lame you are loading files.

 

They can't even make their software compatible with common virus software, I doubt they're gonna put much effort into a splash screen

 

It's Actually not the fault of our software, it's the software protector we use.
