There's definitely something with just the software (or software + cable) as that's all I had when I flashed. They sent me a download link to my ECU tunes and the zip had all sorts of tunes for gears, tires, premium gas, etc.

But all that said...I took advantage of the sale and bought the pack. Don't know how to get those better tunes just yet but I'll figure it out.

Redline custom leather shift and e-brake boot. VFTUNE Super Full Otto cycle, octane learning, premium fuel.
You will see more than a noticeable difference. The motor comes to life, and if you ever flash back to stock after about a week you will want to pull your own teeth out. It really is that nice.
Flashed to performance premium fuel full otto cycle this weekend. I am very happy with it.

the tune in vF is stock. I’m not aware of any examples

there’s a stock tune with vF. If you buy the tune pack, you get them all in vft format.

there’s also supposed to be example tunes and more detailed instructions at some point

Wrightme43 - I ordered vf tune today, do I have to wait for OVtune to send me a link to download the software? Thanks

You can download the software from their front page and install it. However, you'll need to wait to register it with the serial they will email you. It saves a little bit of time to do in advance while you're waiting for that email.

Gmail Sucks - After reading this I specifically watched Spam and sure enough OV Tune emails were there. I told gmail to always allow email from OV Tune and it was not spam. So guess what happened next. Next email with my tunes was in spam. So it seems no matter what gmail will push OV Tune to spam.

    Yep. Happened to @uploadadventure too.

gmail used to be good but any more it’s trying to be too smart and causing problems and there’s no way to fix them..

crazy bad issues. today i did a random spam folder check and found a client email to me which was a reply from an email i sent to him originally. 2 days after i emailed him his reply to me went to spam. no address or domain weirdness, just straightforward stuff. no explaining that. gmail has probably been costing me money from lost email inquiries. i check spam regularly now because it's absolutely necessary. awful.

I have a question which I feel I'll get a quicker response here than asking ovtune.
So I'm wondering if pulling the battery cable for a couple minutes will reset the ecu? I'm assuming no.
I'm running premium stock and I'm not that all impressed, especially the shifting, still wants to go into 5or6 at like 30 plus mph going through town.
Am I the only one with this issue or did I do something wrong? I'm very discouraged with ovtune. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. Pulling the terminals will only reset the DTCs and other minor values. Resetting the Learned Values and AT in vf, FM, or TechStream will wipe all learned values from the ECU.

So after I tune it I go and clear learned values?

That is what I do. You will find some varying opinions, but I like to start with a clean slate.

I do believe that's what ovtune recommended now when I think about it. So what tune are you currently running?

if i was starting fresh from stock, i would do all that the first time. it will take a while to come back up to normal driving dynamics as it learns. after that i wouldn't do it because those learned values are my consistent driving style and it allows the next flash to hit the ground running, and it's always been solid like this for me. like tonered said there's opinions.

we worked it like this for a long while because the last 3 years has been frequent iterative improvements, but now it looks like that's slowed down maybe to an actual final file iteration (for the MTs, at least)

He only recommends it in certain situations.

This was from @OVTune , but I don't have the actual post to quote, just saved the text:

    "Regarding reset AT / LV.

    So this isn't confusing

Resetting LV / AT after a flash = not required

Resetting LV / AT after a flash = is not harmful, and may be done at your discretion

Resetting LV / AT after a flash = Should be done IF you have drivability issues (very odd shifting behavior, very odd engine behavior, or you hear any knock/detonation)

Resetting LV / AT after a flash = May make the truck run noticeably rougher for the first few miles (especially the transmission)

Resetting LV / AT should NOT be done just because you feel like doing it.

Resetting the LV / AT should NOT be done if you haven't recently flashed.

If you Reset LV / AT right after a flash = the first 25mi to 50mi, the trucks shifting characteristics can be ignored

If you Reset LV / AT or even flashed the truck and are making judgements without putting AT LEAST 25 miles on the truck, you are not getting an accurate representation of how the truck will perform."

I have about 6k on 04B13 and 04B14 SFOB Prem. A few tanks of 87 and the rest on 92.
