I’ve got a neighbor about a block away with a Tacoma. Mine is slightly less convenient to steal than his so hopefully they choose his or another next time. I also park my wife’s rav behind the Tacoma every night and have a remote doorbell sensor in the middle console. No anti-theft device is 100% but each layer adds time which is what thieves hate.

Who buys a Rav4 that's so desirable that anyone outside of a joyriding teen, or somone who is stealing a vehicle to facilitate another crime would steal it?

Rav4s are nice, but they are known as a reliable yet affordable auto.

the common cars are most stolen because they're the easiest to strip for parts and sell fast. larger market to sell the parts to. the smaller the market, the more people ask questions, and no one shucking used/stolen parts wants even the risk of questions.

it's probably better to park the rav4 in front of the tacoma...

Once the door are unlocked and the immo killed with the device, they can just hammer the ignition barrel. For PTS, I'm sure that can be triggered by the device.

This week, my neighbor & her friend took the friends new Highlander on a trip to Montreal. It was stolen from the hotel parking area. Cops said it was probably in a shipping container bound for overseas in a few hours after theft. They were stranded there. Had a heluva time getting back into the States.

Yet another good reason to own a manual transmission. My truck still needs a key to start. :D

I doubt if the majority of cars being stolen are because people want to sell the vehicle.

That's what the annual most stolen vehicle stories claim is happening and maybe that's true. Many vehicles are recovered with in a short radius of where the theft occurred.

Most anyone can drive a manual.

Read my post entirely. My truck requires a key…as in a strip of metal with bumpy edges…to be inserted, twisted, and held until the engine starts.

It's the wheels that make a vehicle easy to steal no matter the method. The theif would need a set of the correct size wheels to steal the vehicle. Taking the wheels with you is the best method to prevent vehicle theft.

I just want shout out a thank you to all the guys who don’t believe in adding layers of protection to make your trucks less appealing. You’re making mine safer by making it easier for thieves to fill their quota with yours. I appreciate it.
