You want something that can keep pace with a PD vehicle. Which are still V8s or turbo6s. I guess an EV could get a good jump on a 8 or 6.

I'm surprised there aren't more EV thefts with the rarity of Tesla parts available for accident repair. I'm sure they are more difficult to steal, but if they have an unsecure CANbus network. That could change.

One of those anual reports that don't often change and seem to be based upon volume of vehicles sold.

I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say but if it’s in reference to my mentioning that I park my wife’s RAV behind my truck, her rav is 7 years old and not a prime target for theft.

Montreal is a 3rd world shithole like the rest of Canada. Why people come up here I'll never know.

Cops do nothing about stolen cars here.

Yeah nobody is stealing 7 year old Rav4s. Ravs become targets when the have hybrid batteries in them, and command a price of $70k. There aren't many people out their stealling full gas power Rav4s. Building a $70k Rav defeats the purpose of what that vehicle should be IMO, which is an affordable CUV.

Toyota wants to make money and people will gladly pay those prices. People will gladly steal those vehicles, and insurance companies will gladly charge people higher rates to cover the cost of insuring vehicles.

The vehicle in question was a Rav4.

1st world. I couldn't say it's a shithole I've never been there. I have only been to 1st world countries and those can be pretty bad. Can't imagine what a 3rd world country looks like.

My only level of protection is make sure it fits in the garage.

That's my preferred trim of Tacoma. I'd take more truck for the same price. Not many out there stealing SRs.

The door locks were bypassed, cameras deactivated and I think the PTS was initiated via their bootleg device.

I don't think the fob was used at all.

Mine was stolen without the FOB. They break the door handle, short the contacts on the electronic lock which disabled the alarm, access the odb2 port and reprogram the key. That’s all they have to do.

Who stole it and why? If it was recovered why did you accept the vehicle back?
