Custom Deaver pack. Stg 3 won’t be enough if you have an armored truck. I’m over 1000 from stock in the rear now.

Yeah I’m close, they said it was a good option to hold me over until full rear-end upgrade. 3 years and 3 campers so far so good

Indeed I would have done that instead of the Dakar pack if I had that wisdom back then.

good thing for holidays almost done with the ratiotek shift kit and trans fluid change.

always a gamble when you have to drill holes. Enlarged 3 holes on this plate in the valve body. Will wrap it up tomorrow. Needed to have this done before I head to PNW hopefully sometime soon.

It might be worth looking into your charging voltage for that battery. You could be constantly under charging it which will ruin its capacity over time.

I’m running Dakar mediums with airbags+daystar cradles.

Since it’s a 2nd gen unless they added a voltage booster it’s almost certain. I had that issue when I was running a single AGM even with solar. Forgot I added the booster. It’s a must if your truck supports it but only if the main is an AGM.

Is there a reason for running 2 45ah batteries instead of one 100ah or similar? Besides redundancy if one fails. This electricity shit is not a skill in my quiver.

Also, I noticed my 3rd brake light is stuck on with tape... strong tape but still tape. Thinking of swapping it out for a 3rd brake/chase light combo thing. Im sure they exist. Any recommendations here?

AND. There was a blue tacoma in Auburn area yesterday with a SP camper, and my buddy ran into someone in Manteca last week with one as well. 20ish campers in the wild and they are all so close!

That's probably 3M VHB tape. It's great stuff that is very strong, yet removable. Careful when you try to remove it though, you'll probably brake the existing 3rd brake light into multiple pieces. The "proper" way to remove VHB tape is to saturate it with isopropyl alcohol and probably use something plastic to slowly pry it off.

As for aftermarket chase lights, start your search with the #OVERLANDAPPROVED Baja Designs and go from there. SuperBrightLEDS.com probably has one as well in their ATV/OffRoad section.

I was going to add the baja one before they added as an option. I would likely used RTV and dill a hole for a better mount if so. Cleaner than just adding to the back of the tent but also an option.

the RTL-M 6” or the RTL 30” also had turn signals)
    https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Rear-Tail-Lights.asp

in terms of battery I switched from one large main to 2 smaller so it would have a a backup and not kill the starter myself. Not sure the benefit of 1 or single in the house battery category. Also curious. I’d like to move to lithium in the bed at some point.

Honestly, it's because I bought them used locally on offerup from a lithium battery guru guy. Those (as well as the Valence batteries) are often times used in medial carts and must be replaced often (way sooner than end of life) to ensure the sensitive equipment is functioning properly. I believe I got them for like $100/ea - so for $200 I got 90aH (maybe a little less from use) instead of the $1000 or so that a Battleborn LifePO4 costs of similar capacity.

I guess in theory if one shits the bed I can unwire it and still use the other, but that's not something I'm concerned about.

Man that is a deal! I'm torn with which battery to buy right now. Battleborn has the best warranty but their heating system isn't "smart" vs like a lifeblue low temp battery. If i could get 90ah lithium for 200 bucks I wouldn't think twice hahaha.

This only effects my current camper in production.

Just got an update about my camper from Cindy for 2GEN short beds they are currently fine tuning the tailgate flange and the general fit design that has required some re-design on Spencer’s part. The goal is universal fitment of the Switchback to all Toyota Tacoma’s regardless of Generation. All are in work and close to be resolved. The end result for you will be that your build will not complete in January. I am targeting a mid-February completion for your build, providing the prototype parts pass fit test.

so good news this is what i expected after talking with Spencer just a more formal update where i am at so looks like ill be picking up my camper in feb some time now.
