im about to get a pair of new method race wheels no 305’s, and when ordering there is an option to purchase them with the tire pressure monitor sensors. My 2018 Tacoma already has those built in, my question is if I get new wheels do I have to get new ones or will it use the tpms that are already there?

you have to swap the sensors out of the factory wheels.. If you plan on running both sets one for winter use you'll need another set of sensors if you don't want to be swapping back and forth every season.. or just don't swap them but then your tpms light will be on all the time..

Awesome thanks. Is that something a shop can do if they’re installing the new ones?

swap them? yes they can. I work at a tire shop and we will swap them for free when wheels are purchased thru us.. if everything is carried in then you may get charged a bit extra since you'll have to break down the stock tires to pull the sensors out. some shops may also want to rebuild the sensors to prevent leaks.. rebuild consists of new grommet an a new nut to tighten sensor on wheel

Ok great. With new wheels there’s an option to buy new ones at $40 per wheel, in your professional opinion do you think the charge to swap them would be more than $160?

it shouldn't be, I cant imagine anyone would charge more than $8-$10 a wheel. you don't even have to dismount the tires just pull the air and break down the top bead. with the proper machines you can do this and hold the bead of the tire down while you pull the sensor out
