Not a pro, but I did install 100s of wheels when I was younger. Might be worth trying both sides and making sure they’re fully torqued down.
Your call though. May not help a bit.

Hmmmm, ya I didn't fully torque them to see if it flattened out and or cleared. Suffice to say it would definitely be super close. I remember in my tuner days when I ran BBKs on everything that there seemed to be some rule about minimum safe clearance between the rotor and wheel for runout and stuff. I feel like it was a few mm.

Well good luck with the spacers. Seems like that should work.

They seemed to overlook this important factor with their wheel specs.

    X-factor

Caliper Clearance (X-factor): The amount of clearance built into the wheel to allow for the vehicle's disc brake and caliper assembly.

in this case offset has zero to do with rubbing. that wheel could be -50 or +70 and he’d still hit the brakes. the wheel doesn’t have a tall enough backpad or the spoke design doesn’t have enough rise to step away.

i wouldn’t run a non bolt on spacer on our shit studs. if anything grab a spidertrax spacer. but honestly that’s kinda a shit offset to go 31mm negative.

I agree. BORA has a .75" bolt on hubcentric spacer. It will only push the wheel out .5".

will 3/4" clear the factory studs though?

Honestly, dont fight making those wheels fit. Whoever sold them to you, shouldnt charge you re-stocking or shipping since, they don't fucking fit. If they have a version with a taller backpad go with those. But really, rota isnt exactly known for their expertise

couldn't you just return them and get the -5 version instead of buying spacers>

Mount them backward and you’ll have one hell of an offset. All the Bros will be jealous

On a serious note, aren’t the spacers more expensive and worse quality.... why not just pony up the restocking fee and end up with a better setup and probably the same if not cheaper cost?

    again.
offset wont solve the problem with their wheel design (unless the offset change is simply additional backpad height, but thats a new mold and theres literally no point in making a new mold without moving the center for an offset change). He needs a wheel with a different backpad height.

The rotas have cutouts between the lugs for the studs to poke through. So the .75" is fine.

Restocking and shipping is about $250. BORA (well respected hubcentric US made spacers) cost me $200. I have no problem running spacers. The problem is I don't get the $250 back for restocking/shipping, so it's not like I get that on top of the credit for the wheels. I can fight the restocking fee for poor fitment but I do like the wheels.

Guys, I spent 10 years in the tuner community, you don't need to lecture me on Rotas. I know what they are.
