I'm thinking about getting some new wheels and tires for my "new to me" taco. It has manual locking hubs... So I'm thinking my choices will be pretty slim. I'd like to run 16" wheels. Any suggestions? I know they're out there... I google imaged 'Toyota Tacoma manual hub wheels' and this is one of the pictures that came up. These aren't exactly what I'm looking for, but gives me hope that there are aftermarket wheels that accommodate manual hubs.

Since Tacomas are very popular, wheels that fit are everywhere. Not a problem. I don't know why you think that they would be rare.

I prefer factory Toyota wheels, so I changed out some cheesy aftermarket 15" wheels that came with my '99 and got a used set of 16" TRD alloys from a 2001 Tacoma.

Well, even though this is my second taco, I didn't attempt to fix up my other one. I left it pretty much bone stock.

With this truck I have now, I'm gonna fix it up a bit. When I get online, and look at wheels to buy (like tire rack for example), I never see an option for manual hubs.

No special wheels for the manual hubs. Just grab some 16" factory wheels and you're good to go!

Is it just a matter of not adding the center cap to the front wheels?

I understand your confusion mate, I thought the same thing originally. No special wheels for manual hubs.

You should have a center cap on the fronts, just the whole middle part is missing. Its more like a "ring". I had manuals on my old truck and really miss them!

The only problem I have heard of, is trying to use factory wheels from an old 6-lug 4x4 Chevy. The lug pattern was the same as Toyota, but the chevy manual hubs were smaller, and the rims had slightly smaller center holes. These would not fit over the slightly larger Toyota manual hubs.

Glad I found this. Selling my first gen and it has manual hubs. Wanted to take the A/Ts off and throw on the stock wheels from my 2010. Thought is wasn't going to work though due to manual hubs.

Quick search found this thread. Thanks again TacomaWorld. Those A/Ts are brand new.

Digging up an old thread.... :sorry:

Trying to understand, would I be able to fit a 3rd Gen TRD OR wheel on a 1995 4x4 w/ locking hub?

Yes. That is exactly what I did. The 3rd Gen TRD Off Road wheels fit both the Tundra 13WL calipers, and the AISIN Manual Hubs. @Wulf
