I have a 2019 Off Road with stock suspension. I hate to spend the money since a new truck but I am getting tired of looking at the stock silver wheels and have been thinking of changing to something black.

I have searched this site but I am still confused.

I am not sure if I will lift the truck in the future but no immediate plans at this time.

I would like to change something black with beefier tires.

    What would you suggest?

Why do some go to 17 inch versus staying with 16 inch?

What do I need to know about offset, etc.

    Anything else?

    Thanks

Why not just paint your stock wheels black and get 275/75/16 tires on it.

I really wanted to go with Ray10s at some point in ownership but I really wanted to avoid doing any lifting or stuff that would void a warranty. Would be curious if that is even a possibility. I'm not too familiar with this stuff tbh :help:

I personally opted for the Tacoma TRD Pro wheels and kept the OEM tires ... will probably go 265/75/R16 when they wear out.

I don’t think that’s an actual tire size. Unless I missed something new.

OP- If you do get new wheels I would recommend 17s. The tires are generally a few bucks more but there are also more options around the 32” range.

This is one of my main questions - what are the benefits and what are the drawbacks if any of going from 16 to 17?

    Thanks

It sure helps money wise after the cost of the wheels and caps ... I’m pretty pleased with the oem tires so far. Plus I could tell the wife the wheel swap was half price ... no new tires needed!

In my opinion changing tires to something slightly larger and more aggressive (if desired) than stock has just as much if not more of a visual impact as wheels. And there is a performance benefit to tires, not as much for wheels. I’m a tire nerd though so maybe it’s just me.

I’m also after the biggest value for my dollar so paying to mount tires isn’t something I want to pay twice for. Also if your stockers have good tread you can get a few hundred bucks more selling the whole set.
