New Windshield

Picked up a rock chip on a road trip from Phoenix to Carlsbad. Overnight, the chip spread into a big ole crack!
Called the insurance and it’s 682 BUCKS for a new windshield!!! Guess GoPro is making some money.
Thank goodness for insurance.

 

You think the windshield is $700 bucks because of a 2 dollar gopro mount?

Sounds like you need better insurance...
When a rock broke the windshield on my F150 last year it was replaced at zero cost.

 

that's cheap. highlander windshields run north of 1000, plus another couple hundred to get the tss recalibrated. 682 seems pretty cheap for a oem.

 

You could get a third party windsheild for half that at most glass shops. And they have go pro mounts.

 

Seems to be some confusion regarding the post.
1. Just shocked by the replacement cost of the windshield.
2. Used that shock for an attempt of humor relating the cost of the windshield to the mount.

That is crazy expensive. I haven’t replaced a windshield in years. Glass must be getting pretty hard to come by. Lol

 

Time to get glass insurance. I went without it for years until I realized how expensive they are to replace. Then I got glass insurance and replaced another windshield at 0 or near 0 cost.

Mine was 600 bucks. Welcome to the club. It appears USAA doesn’t offer glass insurance. You can lower your comprehensive coverage to 0 or $100 but when you use it, it would be filing a claim and your rates would go up. That sucks.

picking mine up today from getting new windshield. $566 for the glass. $417 to recalibrate. I have a 2018 and got the last piece of glass in Arizona. The glass is backordered by over 800 units. Insurance is paying for it.

I am pretty sure the laws regarding insurance companies to offer free glass replacement will be gone here in Arizona in the next couple years.

 

safelite replaced mine 380.00 with go pro mount.. on my Pro..

Yeah, I don’t know who’s trying to stick it in your ass buddy, but that’s crazy. I got a new windshield, with the go pro mount, last year from safelite for around $410, on a 2017. I got 3 different quotes, and they were all around that price.

 

Just checked my insurance and have this. I guess I have full glass???
Have never replaced a windshield through insurance. Daughter needs one.

 

You can get them without the go pro mount. Much less. Then Amazon a mount forn $20. Ask me how I know. Twice.

 

yep, have had USAA for over 40 years and with this fucking truck, i have had 2 windshields. Wonder if we can get glass only insurance from another company....but i have a place that gives me the exact OEM for $368 with goPro mount.....just scrape off the charcoal able and it reads "Toyota"

 

but not OEM
