Honestly after the transmission TSB update, I hardly notice a difference between the 4.0 and this one. And the MPG wins hands down, 20-23 mpg consistently with 265/KO2s and 87 octane. My 2nd gens I ran 93 and never touched 21mpg.

Thanks for that...All of have been reading is the 3.5 is a pile of crap...Blah blah... I know it will not have the torque of the 4.0 SC, but hopefully after pushing the magic button I will not be shell shocked.....

Its an exaggeration, this engine once it gets going will beat the 4.0 all day, its only down 1 lb-ft, hardly noticeable. Most people complained about the weird 1-2 shift delay which made it seem slow and exaggerated, after the update its smooth and linear, again its a truck. And its a lexus engine, its far from crap. Plus once you get it broken in the mpg are great, at first I see why many complained, I too was getting 18-19 mpg for first 6k miles or so, but at 9k miles its a consistent 21-22mpg average every tank hand jammed and computer calculated. Don't believe all the hype here, turd gen has its issues, but the engine is not one. The 4.0 was a FANTASTIC engine, but the 3.5 dosent suck.

Its very tolerable, just have them do the TSB update before you pick it up as it seems even the 17s don't have the update done.

Will do... I see from your avatar you ride? How tight is it fitting the bike in the back of the SB? I have a KDX 200 and a 16 KTM 200, and with my current truck(6ft bed) I have no problems fitting two in with rear tires just barely on tailgate... Awesome the rear tire is going to hand off a little if you don't throw it in sideways. Two bikes in the bed seems like a tough proposition.

I have a longbed and my 15 was a longbed as well for a reason. I drove a loaner SB and HATED IT, that bed is a joke, its a open trunk. I had a 08 DCSB while riding for a brief period (bought truck before bikes) and it sucked, wheels hung slightly over tailgate with it down and have to tie everything down. I can throw my bike sideways and close my tailgate with a AC/DCLB. Its doable with a DCSB but if you ride as much as I do (every week) you'd be silly for not getting an AC or DCLB. If you're an occasional rider than DCSB would be better for parking, etc. I still think they are goofy from a truck standpoint.

LoL!! That's the problem isn't it....You really can't have the perfect vehicle for everything..I don't ride nearly as much as you do, but it's still an issue. As you know, the Pro only comes one way....I sure as hell cannot live with the AC anymore, and the DCLB is just too freaking big for me, and personally do not like the look at all. So, I will have to get by the best I can..Too many freaking toys I guess.

If you weren't set on the pro Id tell you to test drive a DCLB OR, Im not sure where the goofy factor is as they look better than the DCSB, especially now that the 3rd gen nose is longer than the bed on a SB, and they look great lifted or with some bigger tires. But to each their own, Ive owned all the configs in these trucks, by far the DCLB is the best of them all, just my 2 cents.

I ride 2-3 times a week and have no issues using my Pro with its short bed. Just buy a moto gate.

This is my truck loaded with my CRF250R

I've had both, trust me the standard length bed is far better for moto.

Nice....I like that Moto Gate... It does sure beat having to throw everything in the truck, or use bungie's, etc to tie shit down.....I think it would be a challenge to fit two bikes in there side by side...In that case I will just use a trailer. It's always nice to have friends with trailers that I can sponge off of...

Moto gate won't help with small lose items, longbed lets you close the tailgate.

I fit two bikes no prob in the short bed. If you put bikes straight the rear tire still red on gate and with the moto gate it's fine.

I do agree 6ft bed in my previous taco is nicer since you can close the gate (can't with two bikes) but I'm just saying don't let it stop you. I really don't see it as a burden. Buy the truck you want is all I'm saying. Short bed is not an issue for moto for me.
