I have a stock 2009 TRD AC 4X4 and I am looking at options to lift the truck 2" to 3".

I have a recall notice from Toyota Canada indicating issues with the current 4/leaf pack.

Was originally thinking to replace leaf pack with aftermarket to gain an increase in lift and call it a day. When I go for new leaf pack what considerations should I be looking for?

I'm installing an OME (Old Man Emu) 2" lift on Wednesday (actually gives ~2.5-3" depending on spring choice). The full kit comes with new leaf springs/shocks, and new front struts. The spring choice for the front will be determined by whether or not you have a steel plate front bumper/winch (886 springs) or if you want a full 3" (887s and maybe a top plate spacer), or just a modest lift without any extra weight on the truck (885 springs). You can buy the full kit or individual parts.

You can also just AAL (add-a-leaf) to the stock leaf pack.

Yup. The recall will take care of the original 3 + 1 leaf springs.

So I am going to replace with aftermarket leaf springs.

When I visit the spring shop I want to be informed as to the leaf springs I should be considering for my 2009. The spring shop has independent manufacturers that supply their leaf springs.

All that being said I am looking for roughly 2" or 3" of lift. I would assume I should be looking for heavy duty leaf springs? Dimensions?

What are some of the names of the independent manufacturers?

If it were me, I would go with something well known.

The new leaf springs are considered heavy duty and rated for 1650 lbs.

The standard OEM springs are rated for 1250 lbs.

The springs are distributed by Dayton parts and manufactured in Texas.

The shop would install the new leaf pack and if necessary adjust the springs for a 2" lift.

New leafs spring pack = $850

Dakars were $369 for me from Headstrong offroad. Plus $69 for shipping but damn $850..that's insane.

Will a new leaf pack and 2" of lift require new rear shock absorbers? Brake lines?

    K. Thanks.

Thinking I will have the HD spring pack installed.

Then maybe go with Billies on 4 corners.

Step one is to have new leaf pack installed.

Will take before and after pictures.
