Great Forum guys, Lots of helpful info and ideas on here! I'm pretty new to car audio and starting to re-upgrade my system in my 2005 DCLB. I'm switching from an Alpine CDE-133BT to a Kenwood KDC-X300. My Question, Is there any benefit to soldering the wires from Kenwoods supplied harness directly to the factory Toyota wires, and eliminating the extra plug connection? I realize this will make it take longer to swap out HUs in the future but if there is an advantage (sound quality, power ect..) I'll do it that way as ill be soldering the connections anyway. Thanks for any input

None whatsoever. There are already multiple, harnesses in the circuits anyway. Taking one out won't make a difference. Not only that but there's bound to be some roll off during the soldering process and you don't want molten tin and silver falling down into the cracks and crevices in your truck.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up not soldering like you said. What a big difference between those two HUs! That is my first Kenwood product and so far I'm pretty impressed. It's going to take me days to wade through all the settings though haha.

As a new owner of a kenwood, I can honestly say yes. I'm still going through some experimentation.
