Hey I'm new to Tacoma's and got to thinking I needed a new front Skid plate, because who doesn't right?:p. Anyhow I ordered one of budbuilts after reading some high praise here. Now I got to looking a little further on his website after I placed the order and noticed the plate I ordered doesn't say anything about if it's compatible with a lift (I have a 3" suspension lift) but he had another plate that said 4", and 6" lifts. Not sure if I ordered the wrong plate or not, because his sight isn't very clear on the descriptions of what is what. So will it work or do I need to give bud a Call?

I have the OME 2.5 suspension lift on my Tacoma with the Budbuilt front skid plate and it fits perfectly . It is just very heavy to install. I usually use a jack in the middle of it, to stabilize it when I don't have any help around.

I believe the other versions of his skids that are for 4" and 6" of lift are designed to be used with the DB (Drop Bracket) lifts. At 3", you should be just fine...none of the attachment points are moved with a 3" "Suspension" lift.

As long as you don't have a diff drop you should be good, if you have a diff drop you probably gotta lose it.

When I was researching skids I think I pm'ed him about this, as I have a diff drop installed. I believe his response was that they would work with the diff drop installed.

I don't think I've seen a set of skids work with a diff drop, but chime back in when you get the skid and have it installed.

I just installed the full budbuilts (thanks 45acp and Majikman!) with no problem. I do NOT have a diff drop.

I have full Bud Builts with a diff drop, and still have about 1/4 of an inch clearance between the diff bolt and skid.
