    Hello Off-Roading & Trails Sub-Forum People!

I have a 2014 DCSB 4x4 TRD Sport, and want to take into the nearby mountains. This will be my first off-roading experience/attempt. To my knowledge, this land is very very rarely traversed by anybody, though with the satellite imagery from Google showing a timestamp of December 2013, the unimproved roads still seem passable.

Here is the route information I plugged into google earth:

As you can see in the elevation profiles, the only thing that gives me pause is the Slopes (as much as 37% up and down in some places). I believe parts of this route utilize (almost always dry) streambeds in some places, and most rocks in the area range in size from shoebox to suitcase sized, though I couldn't spot much of anything when scanning the route on Google. The road seems to be between 10-12 feet wide for nearly the entire route.

Here is a POV view (5 ft AGL) from below the portion where there's 37% slope:

In the first image posted above, you can see a small inset (with black border) of what the terrain mostly looks like. Low vegetation on a rocky landscape. Very little annual precipitation (located in New Mexico).

SO, with all of the above, am I OK with stock suspension and tires? My guess is yes, though I am open to suggestions and am willing to drop some cash to make this happen. I have already installed a 1/4" skid-plate and A-Arm skids (both aluminum). Thanks for any help provided!

Also, I want to point out that the elevation profiles in the first image aren't exactly to scale -- the slopes as they appear there are much steeper than in reality.

And the "37%" I put on there is what Google Earth calls "Slope". I'm not sure if this is a grade calculation, or simply a 37 degree elevation...

Here is a better approximation of the elevation profile for the orange route (more to scale):

Looks like I'm not getting any 'traction' here... (haha, get it?)

You will probably be just fine. Take some recovery equipment with you (shovel, rope, mantrax type product) and some food and water. If you come across something you think you can't do, or looks sketchy, just turn around. Have fun!

Without seeing the terrain you cannot be sure but without lockers or a winch make sure you don't get into anything sketchy you can get out of. Get a 30ft tow strap and a come along. If you can bring another rig with you this first time. Let someone know exactly where you will be and around when you think you will be back. Bring supplies.
    You should be fine
