Greetings from Salt Lake. My Tacoma is a 95, 4-cyl, 4x4 with extra cab. It has about 237k miles on it. My goal is to turn this truck into a reliable desert and mountain vehicle as I love to camp and hike. She needs a lot of TLC and since I'm new to DIY on vehicles I joined this forum.

Good looking truck. Love the color and that front end is classic. Looks like manual hubs too, good find.

Thanks Looiz. Got it from my brother for $2k and yup, those are manual hubs! Kind of a pain but there is something about old school that makes up for it.

Did you ever check the frame for rust?

Sadly, there is rust. One of the questions I have is how bad is this for a 95 Tacoma? and what can I do about it to repair or slow down?

It doesn't look too bad for a 95. Trust me there are so many members on here that have had rust a lot worse. You could try annually fluid filming it. When it gets too bad, you can always find a welder willing to repair it but that's a bit expensive.

Edit: you can always try to sand off the surface rust and reprinting it too.

I didn't have to, there is a recall for frame rust, so I had my whole frame replaced by Toyota. I'm trying to pressure wash the living crap out of it about every week so no rust forms. :fingerscrossed: Hopefully I don't get rust but who knows with these frames.

Sadly, the recall doesn't apply to you. I don't know all the details but I know it applies to the truck up to 15 years after purchase date. (Your recall opportunity window ended somewhere in 2010.) I'm sure if you search the forums enough, you can find a write up on how to repair frame rust. Good luck.

Ooh a 95 3RZ, only year with the mini evap system. Looks in good shape minus whatever huge oil leak is causing that stain on the valvecover. Miss my 95, but I suppose it lives on since I put its drivetrain in my 96.
