    Hello,
I have been a Toyota fan for many years and have owned a few: I owned a 2008 Tundra which we traded in on a Rav 4 back in 2018, the Rav was too small so we traded that in on a 2019 4Runner which I loved but...
My wife passed away from cancer and the 4Runner was hers. I thought I needed a truck and the Tundra's were only going to have 6 cylinder so I went to the Silverado with the 5.3 but damn did I miss that 4Runner!
I always wanted a 4th Gen with a V8, would have liked a 2007 or 08 but found a 2004 with high mileage (211,000) but low price (under 6000) and snatched it up. I have a few gremlins I'm chasing and that led me here.
I hope to find my solutions and maybe share a few tidbits along the way. Thanks for letting me join :)

    Welcome,

Sorry to hear about your wife.

Wow! Over 200K vehicles can be gems if you find one well-maintained. I had a 2003 Honda Pilot that I parted with in 2018 that had over 200K miles on it. (Not by choice)

So, getting a 4-door truck was great for me since the kids are full-grown and married...and it's just the wife and me.

You got pics of said vehicle?

    Thanks all!
I looked for about a year and the prices are stupid crazy for a used 4 Runner period, throw in the "V8" and they are like a Unicorn!
This one had the VSC Trac/Trac off lights on the dash, I was able to fix that with 2 paper clips, also had a check engine light, fixed that with a new upstream O2 sensor, also had a low tire pressure light which turned out to be the spare (fixed). It does have some rust on the frame, just surface rust along the frame rails and I am researching what would be best to do with that. The piece of the frame/support up front that goes from frame rail to frame rail (where the skid plate attaches in front) is completely rusted out. It looks to me like I could just cut that out and weld in a new piece to go from rail to rail, it looks like all it does is gives the front skid plate somewhere to attach, doesn't appear to be structural but hell, I've been wrong before. That is also where the loops are to hook up a tow strap, you will have a hook full of rusty metal if you hook there now..
I don't have any way to post an image at the moment but plan on figuring that all out.
I came here in search of why my 4 wheel drive doesn't always disengage and am well on my way to solving that...gotta love these Forums!!!
