just bought a 2010 taco 4wd with the 2.7 in it. i have a buddy thats a ford service manager and he is keeps ups with all my vehicles. i do not have a toyota dealer within an hour so going to let my buddy do my oil changes. he recommended that i do motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend that they carry and to change every 5k miles. what do you guys think about this?? decent oil??? the truck has 56k on it. and i plan on doing the diff changes at 61K this sound ok??? this is my first tacoma so any advice would be appreciated, thanks

I'm sure there are a million threads about this if you search. IMO "blended" oil is a waste of money. It usually means a teaspoon of synthetic in a qt of petro. I don't buy rebranded oil either because you never know what is in the bottle.

I do synthetic at 5K. I dump the rear diff every year because I tow. All the other boxes get changed at 30K. All synthetic

    Engine: Mobil-1 5W-30
Tranny and Tcase : Redline MT-90
Rear diff: Redline 75-140 (for heavy towing, otherwise 75-90)
    Front diff: Redline 75-90

talked to toyota today. he said in a 2010 they recommend 5w20. and he did say no matter what type or weight its recommended to change at 5k. i dotn see the advantage of running full syn having to change that quick and loosing that money

I'm new here too, but my 2010 just had the 25,000 mi. service. Toy dealer here did every 5000 mi with petro 5W-20. I also have 2011 Prius that gets Mobil 1 syn. every 10,000 mi. I also don't see using syn in the Taco if it's going out at 5000.
