Hello, so i am very happy to be the owner of a 2017 TRD Sport 4X2 double cab in quicksand. when i bought it i made them install a new trd pro grille if they wanted the sale. they quickly agreed. so as of now thats all i have done. I am really wanting to do a small lift. by small i mean 2.5 inches. I live in orange county and do not get off road very much, but will be on some trails when i move back north.

So I have done a little browsing around to try and find out what the best way to achieve the lift and bigger tire size would be. I would love to hear and see some suggested options from you guys.

I do have a budget in mind. I would like to spend around 600-800 for the lift. so please give me some insight and let me see what you guys have done.

I think most here would advocate for Bilstein 5100s all around for that price range. Check out the suspension forum to see what others have done.

That has been what I've read most people do. Although if I went with 5100's I wouldn't want to max them out to get lift as I've heard that sacrifices ride.

This is much smaller than a 2.5 inch lift unless u count how much the bigger tires actually “lift” the truck... found the smallest spacer I could find for the front (maybe half inch?) and stuffed some 285s under there until I get money to do a proper lift... just an idea, and it’s a super cheap option if you like that stance/height. Congrats on the truck!

Edit: spacers aren’t always the best option... this just works for me for the time being and being that it is a very small spacer, I am still able to sleep at night

Wow you fit 285? Any rubbing? Yeah I’ve thought about just doing a spacer or maybe just 5100s up front set to an inch or so just so I can fit the tires I want

@0331 what size are your rims? Do you know what the limits are if I keep the stock rims?
    also, curious about the rubbing?

    Like, so many.
If you're not really offroading, you could do a spacer upfront (maybe 2 inches) to level it, the do larger tires and you would get the stance your probably looking for. Check with Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road.

I have a 4x2 and have the 5100's set at 0 and 887 coils. Gave me close to 3" lift.

    17inch rims (285/70/17s)

I do rub when off-roading and hitting an obstacle a certain way and it’s gotten to the point where I compensate for it and don’t crank it too hard either way but it’s all manageable for the kind of stuff I do... which isn’t much. I’m going to 16 inch steel rims soon and going to throw some skinny tires on it here soon but 285s weren’t too bad, but everyone’s different

Occasionally rubbing when off road, but I also cut a bit away in the fender well and it doesn’t bother me. If your going to really off road my setup wouldn’t be ideal ... I’ll eventually go with an OME

That’s what I’m thinking I should do. Can you post pics of your setup?? Also have they already “settled”? How do you like the ride compared to stock

Sorry, forgot to add that it rides much better than stock. Extremely happy with it. That post I linked to was taken long after they had settled.

OME lift is what I went with on my second gen. I think you can find them for under $800
