2001 Tacoma 4 x 4, Silver and Double Cab, slightly abused by others. Got hit from front and back.

    thinking about adding:
    campershell (soft or hard)
    small lift
    maybe up the tire size
    rims (possibly black?)
    replace grill (cracked from wreck)
front and back bumpers (cracked from wreck)
    tint windows
    finder flares?

    other issues:
got two spots of rust coming up under the paint
the stock finders are so faded, what are options about that if i don't replace them?

If he offroads then you should consider putting some metal bumpers on there but that can by pricey.

Regarding the fender flares(assuming they are the black plastic ones) Some have had success with a simple magic eraser
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/9304-black-prerunner-fender-flares.html#post2069144

and others have sprayed diy bedliner on them
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...ck-prerunner-fender-flares-2.html#post2072800

A good lift kit without breaking the budget is 5100's all around and an aal in the back You could probably get a little better price on those that's just to show you what they are.

no off-roading in the Taco, he's got an 86 4-runner for that.

He will be leaving in March so I am going to figure out what I am going to get and how much it will be. I am going to secretly work a part-time to fund the mods, so hopefully after he leaves I can swing into action.

thanks for the help so far!

In that case I suggest you post up a wtb or want to buy thread to get the factory bumpers. Surely somebody out there bought after market bumpers and has no use for the stockers. If you don't get any luck here maybe craigslist.

    Do you have a sister?

If no off-roading is involved you can go with any kind of suspension lift, rims, CAI, definitely check out the Mods & Tutorials link at the top of the site.
