Finally pulled the trigger on a new off road. Been stuck in suv land for 20 yrs since my last ford ranger 4x4. the kids are gone and wifey and I are gearing up for off the grid weekends and extended trips in utah and beyond

Question what’s the best option to manage rear end sag without new suspension? I’m putting an RSI smart cap and a Cvt mt hood on it. That’s ~300 lbs on its own then w the gear, water wood and mtn bikes we will be +600 for sure on long weekends.

Well be doing moderate off roading (no rock crawling) I don’t want to lift it but will likely put 31s on it.

What’s the best option? I’ve looked at air bags, add a leaf, leaf kits, sumo springs and timbren. Not too keen on airbags. Seems like hassle, more weight and risk when off roading

    appreciate any input

You have new springs so go AAL. In a few years swap out the OEM leaf springs for aftermarket. Picture of my Timbrens and u-bolt flip.

Appreciate it and sounds like solid advice. Any reco on the AAL? Why timbren over sumo ?

At ~45K I swapped out the OEM leaf springs for OME. So no experience with AAL. The Timbren + U-bolt flip kit came with free S&H so I saved 20-25 bills. It was the best deal I could find of leading contenders. Purely an economic decision.

Yeah. Frustrating to pay that kind of money for a new “off road” to then have to modify the suspension for pretty normal stuff.
I saw wheeler offers some progressive leaf kits that balance ability to handle weight vs lift and balanced ride.

Just looking to keep it simple and effective
