Would a 2019 stock radio be a direct plug in on a 2016 Tacoma? I want CarPlay- thanks

No. The wiring on radios offered in 2016-19 is different than 2020+. The units that are carplay capable are on the 2020 wiring harness

It will be cheaper, easier, and much more capable if you buy an aftermarket head on crutchfield instead.
