Newly wrecked Taco

Hey everyone! I have owned my older tacoma for 8 years and decided to upgrade. We’ll long story short I was rear ended the day I bought it!

Geez Op that stinks. Was everyone okay?

 

Fortunately for me I’m a body man. Sorta saved it from a total loss. Repairing frame and replacing the bed. Having issues locating some of the aftermarket suspension items. It was just me in the truck. Luckily my kids weren’t in the truck. Just some back pain. But feeling better!

That would be a pretty cool idea! Probably going to do away with the decked system. Although it held up like a champ.

 

I’m guessing you purchased it with the decked system and King Shocks?

 

Sorry to hear OP, don’t mean to backseat drive but be mindful of your back for the next few weeks, once adrenaline subsides things can go from okay to bad to worse.

Yeah it was a trade in at my dealer. Noticed it had a ton of goodies on it. Had to buy it. The king shocks are almost impossible to buy right now. OME leaf springs have some damage as well.

 

If that decked is straight and usable, then I'm sure you can sell it and help cover some of the costs/buy other accessories.

Bummer that you had such a rough first day with it.

 

Nice to see someone repairing rather than taking the insurance pay-out as a total.

I got my replacement spring from Rockauto.com for my first Taco I rebuilt. No complaints.

I rebuilt the spring on the second one but it wasn't bent. Just retaining clips bent all to hell.

The shackle hangar took a good hit on my frame. I was going to swap them out for these aftermarket ones.

 

So full on long travel pre-runner build now?

 

That would be awesome! Super expensive lol. The bed will probably be close to 4k though….

Welcome to TW and sorry to hear/see about your truck. But good to hear only a little pain. If you’re not sold on that brand there are two others that the fabricators are on this site. @ARCHIVE garage has the Hammer hangers and @JLee at BAMF has Shackle hangers as well. Both stand up companies/people.
@AccuTune Offroad might be able to help with the shocks I’d you reach out to them with what you’re looking for. I can’t remember reading if they rebuild them though…
