I was on facebook and saw this news article post today. I really hope this does not hurt our resale value of the trucks. I see they quoting some forum members but to be honest I am surprised they read the forums. I thought most everyone just blows the forums off as BS... like my dealer always tells me don't pay attention to what you see on the internet forums.

Question does anyone think Toyota also read these forums? TOYOTA CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!?! I want a TURBO for the truck LOL!!!

What is Torque News? I guess we can all assume it is more credible than SheBudgets but it appears to be lacking substance.

No OP, Toyota does not hear you, but they see you.

The fake news and the four ppl here with over 10k trash posts won’t affect the resale value of the Taco at all.
Unlike the Jeep, we’re not a unique vehicle without any competitors, we have plenty.
What makes the taco holds it value is simple, Its durability!

In the secondary market there is a reality about Toyota in that when you buy a used Taco with 150k on the clock, It’s only at half its perceived average life.
Heck I sold one (4-cydr 22R) with almost 300k on it, got good $$ for it and last I heard it was still going strong.
And I still see many single cab mid 80’s models running strong all the time. That’s what will make it valuable to others.

The Chebbies and Fords have already cost their owners operating $$ and big headaches by the time they approach 100k. The vast number are mostly all done by the time they reach 150k and will require some type of additional major work to keep them going and ppl know this, they aren’t stupid out there, they will deduct the expected expense off the price. That’s why their prices drop.

If this 3rd Gen drive train fails to deliver on that, as its predecessors have, then we can kiss our resale value goodbye.
The CPS and loose diff bolts have no bearing on that in the real world. I can’t wait to see the first post with 150k trouble free miles.

And I wish Toyota would put a bounty on the first 3rd Gen to reach 300k lol!

    Cheers!

Who knows vehicles better than CR? They test vehicles all the time, so their non-biased reviews are real.

Truth sometimes hurts, especially for the 3rd gen.

June 8th 2016, the day I took delivery of my 16 3rd Gen. So far no problems. Tacomas are for men who like tough trucks, others prefer the "prissy" ones, or the big "fuddy Duddy" ones. lol

10,000 trash posts well I only see one here with over 10,000 posts. Are you talking about Smitty99? I had a cheby for 8 years and 150k miles without one problem, it was a wonderful truck although the gas mileage was not great it never let me down. I miss that power from the V8. It seems like the toyota tacoma is living off of past value because it has a history of being durable and problem free but these newer trucks are getting a LOT of complaints on here and in the reviews that I am now looking into. This article is probably on to something. I like the tacoma pretty well so far but it has already had me in the dealer several times which my old chevy never did to me except for oil changes. You sound a bit like you might work for toyota.

Now my chevy was a man's truck but the toyota is better for around town and side jobs. it does struggle to pull my 3,000lb trailer which i did not think would be an issue since these trucks are rated to tow more than twice that! I just don;t like hearing the engine screaming at me all of the time just to pull a little utility trailer with my roofing equipment in it..

Check out CR and their opinion on 4Runners and Land Cruisers lol. Yeah, they really know their stuff...
Washers and dryers, lawn mowers, sure. Vehicles? No chance, because a vehicle use and expectation is different for every person.

Dude... read a few posts and you instantly see a pattern. I've only been here a few weeks and see it. You have a minority of posters make a majority of posts and almost all of them are negative.

Next you have a bunch of posters with only a few posts asking the same questions that have been asked a hundred times.

Lastly you have guys who have a median of posts that actually help out and like their trucks.

Now, remember that the vast majority of people who buy a 3rd gen don't even know Tacoma World exists. They just drive and enjoy their stock truck.
