I hope they'll have an enhanced interior with a screen in the dash (mpg, temp, etc.)... At this price, it's a must.

I just want it to be modern and not outdated. I'll be pissed if they release some 2006 technology and think it's revolutionary.

I wonder if it will get what the FJ Cruiser had. That way it doesn't cut into 4runner or Tundra sales.

^Interior is relatively easy to update. Powertrain will probably be a recycled 2GR-FE.

Probably. Think about it though, what useful intel did you get out of the photos? Not a whole lot.

Yank-up e-brake is best for drifting, etc. :D Only drawback is it takes up center console storage room.

The FJ and Land Cruiser use the handbrake just fine:

Could've sworn I saw somewhere that they're going to redesign the land cruiser for 2017? Then again I'm not a doctor

Due to new CAFE levels that kick in in 2017, all of the current truck engines are getting revamped for 2017 and no sooner.

Where/what regarding the screen? If they meant the mule, yes absolutely out of date. I wouldn't know exactly about the production interior, but only that the mule isn't even 10-20% representative of the designs Toyota signed-off last year.

As for a 2016 redesign, yes. Toyota utilizes random 4 digit alphanumeric development codes, that easily guards projects from the public and competitors. The 2005 Tacoma was nicknamed "635N" between 1999 and 2004, as for the 2016...

The design is more blocky, which explains the facelift in 2011 moving in that direction. Like the face-lifted Tundra, the words T-A-C-O-M-A are stamped onto the exterior of the T-gate. Even if others don't believe me, barring any unforeseen delays, Toyota has never kept a major facelift Tacoma for more than 4 years.

Ex.: Gen. 1 ran 10/2000-9/2004 and Gen. 2 will run 10/2011-9/2015. Likely a Chicago 2015 showing for the next Tacoma and a spring 2015 press unveiling of the next Hilux in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Geez....is it gonna have power seats?

I was amazed when I bought my 07 that is didn't have power seats. Really Toyota? I was perfectly willing to pay the extra $ to have this luxury.....and....no power seats?

I don't get people demanding gizmos in their truck. If you want all that luxury, and potential expensive repair, why not buy Ridgeline?
I hope Toyota keeps Tacoma a simple truck

Because some people like the Gizmo's? I know I sure do. Some people are willing to pay more to have upscale features.

The current Ridgeline and Tacoma aren't in the same category, and neither are luxurious. If Chris4x4 is right and the next Ridgeline is a great truck, I am sure it will win me over if the Tacoma doesn't offer the features I want.

Honda and Toyota are 2 brand I trust for reliability, even with a brand new model.

If people like gizmos than there is Ridgeline for them. Both Tacoma and Ridgeline are mid size trucks so it's the same category.
Ridgeline has everything from leather seats, to moonroof. If you bought Tacoma and whine that truck is too spartan, maybe Ridgeline would be better for you.
I am sure, soccer moms and dads will be happy to share their experience.:D

If the Tacoma ever gets a new engine it will be from another model. The pick ups never get the "first run" of new production engines. You would see it in a Prado or 4Runner first.

If Toyota retains the same package orientation, then anyone who wants the bare bones model can stick with a BASE package. Otherwise any other tech additions would most likely end up in SR5 and TRD level packages (depending on how they do it next gen)

I bought my 2012 base new as the best truck I could get for the least money.
I traded in an 11 year old Sonoma, got $2K and paid ~ 19K ( Just over 21K total) for a brandy new Tacoma 4x4 with AC Stereo and a great quality Truck. I'm very satisfied.

If you have the money and want to spend 25K , 35K or more for all the bells and whistles - that's fine with me. I'll keep this, hopefully, well over 10 years without worrying about fixing (paying) to get the bells and whistles fixed.

I don't mind Toyota offering a work-oriented truck. That's a good thing. Give me a vinyl floor, a functional interior, and a capable powertrain, and it would be awesome for work and play.

Unfortunately I can't afford two vehicles so whether I want to drive to work or across the state, I do it in the same vehicle. When that said vehicle is missing things like intermittent wipers, cruise control, a decent radio, good bucket seats, you know the kind of stuff that my $15270 brand new Honda Fit had from the factory, it gets old fast. Wish I could have kept that car but it would get stuck in 3" of snow.

Problem is, Toyota wants as almost much for that stuff as a certain other company's bigger truck with two turbos, way more creature comforts, and so on

I can tell you that the old chopped off Hurst Cueball stick shift from my 1996 Tacoma fit perfectly right onto my 2012. ;)

That's an incredible number of years to use exactly the same part. It's one of the things I really like about Toyotas. :)
