When I bought my cans my dealer was almost insistent that I use a trust. I think he thought he was going to sell me one. I finally gave in as I had no idea what I was doing, already had a trust and used it. I regret that and won't use it if I buy another can.

The only reason I didn't use a trust is because I couldn't find any benefits to it haha but everyone insisted I get one to so I felt like I was going to wait longer but got mine alot sooner than I thought

Well I wasn't going to get one cause I wasn't going to get any tax stamps. My buddy just happened to sell me a new 30 Cal can for $300 so I couldn't turn away from that!

I bought my trust before 41f with the intent to buy cans and submit them with the trust. Unfortunately I couldn't get anyone of my local redneck dealers to shut up and take my money and order what I wanted.

Got frustrated and gave up until after 41f and then lucked upon a dealer who wanted to sell something. I told him I wanted to do Individual cuz I was certain there was now no benefit in using the trust but he wore me down on using the trust telling me it would be a bitch for my wife to deal with them after I passed.

TBH he just wanted to sell me a trust. Gave me a great deal on the cans tho.

There is a ton of benefits for a trust. One really good reason is that you can have someone on the trust and take the can to the range without you being there.

A better example is let's say that you go on a hunting trip with some buddies. You bring your can and gun but your buddy wants to shoot your can but you dont want to get out of bed. Well being an individual the can cant be out of your line of sight if not in a secure place at any time. So your buddy and you say screw it and he takes it out without you there. Well the Game Warden stumbles along and ask you if your buddy has paper work on the can because he wants to be a dick. He tells the Warden he doesnt need to show him jack because he's not the ATF, Warden gets mad and arrests your buddy and takes the gun and can while he calls the ATF at the station. They come and ask for paper work and they find out it's your can and not your buddies. They confiscate the can and your buddy more than likely gets a slap on the wrist. But now you lost your can and will have a hell of a time getting a new one because that will be in the ATF database. ATF knows it crap, you know its crap but the law is the law.

With a trust, you can put your buddy on the trust for the trip but same thing occurs. Warden still takes your buddy to the station but you show them the documents that he's on the trust. Buddy gets an apology from the Warden, ATF gets pissed at the Warden and you and your buddy get to laugh and walk away with no issues.

Thats just one benefit of a trust. Another is if you die your love one's dont have to pay another $200 for each NFA item you own.

Wait times suck but are getting better. Trust Form 1's are at the same time frame now and Form 4's are up to Mid-May to Early June. Sucks for all the 41f people but thats how it played out.

Oh I know the benefits, but those benefits won't benefit me haha I'm on like 6 different trusts from my buddies. I don't really have a need to give people legal permission to use my can while I'm not there. If they wanna use it that bad they can wait till I get out of bed haha the only reason I was going to get a trust is to put my wife on it because sometimes she drives my truck which has my suppressor in it

You are correct they need to be a Responsible Party but you can easily put them on and take them off for a trip. At least, that is how my trust is setup. I can have someone on there indefinitely or put them on for a certain time frame. If I knew I was getting a new NFA item I would be damn sure that the permanent people on my trust would be willing to take fingerprints when asked in a timely manner or they get off my trust forever. I understand that is an extreme and your right it doesnt usually happen but it is a benefit of the trust regardless. Also, if I went on a trip with my buddy and they cant be trusted with my can then I sure as hell am not going shooting with them. Stupid people and guns dont mix well with me. The transference of successor is good and all but if they are not a responsible party on the trust they cant use the item anyway so they would still need to get them amended on the trust to be a responsible party or transfer it out and pay the $200 again to transfer it.

Understandable and is a perfectly good reason to get a trust or make the bastards wait

On the other hand my wife did say we should buy a few more tax stamps and guns before they make it harder to get for what recently happened. I'm like ay okay baby I'll start making my list of guns I want right now! Lol I already have 11 let's pump those numbers up
