I guess I have to side with the owners. The players are given a golden ticket to play a game, make an insane amount of money, be worshipped as gods, they can have whatever they want. If it wasn't for mega rich owners they wouldn't have that opportunity. I can't feel bad for for workers when the minimum wage is like $500k. That's more than the president. If they can't manage that salary and they feel they need more money, I don't feel bad for you.

That being said, I think they should make the game safer w/o jeopardizing it. Make the field bigger, 10 players instead of 11, I dont know. I dont really want to watch someone die during a game.

This made me think, if it wasn't for the mega rich owners, it would sort out the ones playing for the money and fame from the ones that play for the love of the game. ;)

And before someone go on about them risking injury that could end their career's, they make plenty, it's not my fault they cant save, invest or spend it wisely. Besides, they got a college degree to fall back on, right?

Hard to side with billionaires asking for money from millionaires, although I would be glad to be apart of either group haha.

I mean lets be honest, who wouldn't trade their life to live in shoes of an NFL player for a day? I mean Peyton Manning makes the avg persons yearly salary by kickoff. Yeah you might get hurt, miss a week, the season or have your career ended at any second, BUT that's why you make $20mil/yr and why millions of people watch you every Sunday and buy your jersey. What you decide to do with that cash is up to you. I read that 2 out of 5 NFL players live paycheck to paycheck. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!

I mean lets be honest, who wouldn't trade their life to live in shoes of an NFL owner for a day? I mean Jerry Jones makes the avg nfl players yearly salary by kickoff. Yeah you might never get hurt, miss a week, the season or have your career ended at any second, BUT that's why you made 1.4 billion and why millions of people watch you every Sunday and buy your shitty stadium food. What you decide to do with that cash is up to you. I read that now the owners want an additional 1 billion dollars from the players. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!

Id be hard pressed to take a side, but I will say this, mike brown has put together I think 2 above .500 teams in 20 years. Some of the worst teams in modern history, and has never came close to losing money. This guy could care less about playoffs, he is all about $$. Why people continue to support this debacle is beyond me.

Nicely played.....I see your point, but if I had to choose a side it would be the owners. Although I think both are greedy and are both to blame for the mess......Its the stadium workers, lot attendants, cheerleaders, employees by the teams that are getting the shaft. The owners and players are arguing over millions, while those mentioned are losing their jobs.

The argument of risking a career ending injury at all times would be reasonable if the players were pinching pennies, not blowing it all. If they even put a third of it in stocks and bonds like normal people they would be able to live like kings for life.

At the same time its not like the owners need it.

Its just a battle of the greed.

I'm going to side with the owners. Players and owners get a lot of money, but who gives back to the fans? The owners do. The only way players give back to anyone is through charity, and even that isn't from every player, and not given to every fan. Owners provide stadiums, events, etc.

And even when the players give to charity 1/2 the time it seems that it is for their image, not because they want to.

x2 Every player has their own foundation. So you know it is a team run thing. Plus you only see 2 people on the team working at the charity event they show and they are nobodys.

exactly. seems like a lot of the charities are more for publicity than anything else. I could be wrong, but if it wasn't the case then I think I'd hear more about it. I follow the 49ers very closely. Right before the season, during, and after I religiously listen to KNBR and ESPN radio everyday and don't hear of many charities. There are some, but none too many.

at the same time, I don't think the owners are saints themselves, especially the 49ers organization! but if we want to see football, I think this is the only way to go. I mean, does anyone know of any other billion dollar industry that isn't run top down?

Either way, work it out! The NFL received its best ratings EVER this past season, and to let it all go away would be an embarrassment to the league.

Players and owners need to all kiss my a$$! They are all making way too much money already! I find it especially annoying that they have the audacity to bitch about this $hit given the current US economy.

Players completely. They risk their neck for non guaranteed money for a career that last less than 5 years on average. Pay them!

What about police and fireman risking there life for 30,000 a year! I love nfl football, but most of the players are a bunch of thugs! They dont deserve half of the money they get paid. Especially the rokies coming right out of College that get paid and then sucking. Look at Russell from Oakland!!

I rather watch a bunch of kids play ball for the love of the game and getting an education while they are at it. It pisses me off when you get these new rookies get paid 5 times I do a year to ride the pine.
