    From what I understand...

The current owner of the Cleveland Browns filed a lawsuit in 1996 to retain the franchises history and even the name. The Ravens are a " expansion franchise" as far as records are concerned and Cleveland got to keep all of their old records.

So technically according to the NFL record books Cleveland is the oldest team without a Superbowl appearance.

I read that somewhere when I was younger but I might be wrong on all the details

I guess I should root for the Browns / Lions then. I have a feeling it will be a crappy year for me if I make that choice. Hmmmm.....

Then end result is, I don't care as long as it is teams that haven't been there in a while. So... go underdogs in general!

haha me either! I've really only been an NFL for about 5 years now and I picked the Jaguars when I decided to start watching. To say it's been disappointing is an understatement but I don't have any real ties or emotions with it so it's all just fun to me. Nobody can call me a bandwagon fan either since I chose them after a 2 win season lol

I have my "teams" but I generally just watch cause I like football, and I don't ever really care who wins. Lately I've been rooting for the underdogs even if it is against my teams, just because I really would like to see more variety in the post season.

I'm the same way. I'm a die hard Patriots fan and if they're playing I'll always cheer for them. But I watch the other games on a Sunday afternoon as well, because I like to watch the game.

Sometimes I feel like I can actually enjoy a game more when the Pats aren't playing, because I can appreciate a good play regardless of which team makes it. :notsure:

The biggest reason I want the Patriots to lose is I want to see how much of their following is the band wagon....

Just like any championship team, there are the die hards and then the majority are band wagons.

I know. It must suck to have to change teams every so often just to stay on the winning side, although the Patriots has had quite a run of it.

It's definitely been a lot easier to be a Pats fan over the last 15 years than it was during the first 10-15 that I remember of football. The 90's were a rough time for a kid from New England to try to get interested in Football, lol.

Anecdotally. At my work there are a ton of people who have Patriots everything... (yes, in AZ). I would be willing to be that most, if not all of it would disappear if they started losing.

What you find sad, I find amusing. I would be amused by seeing it all vanish and probably all be replaced by the next team with a winning streak. I find it very amusing that people are so easily swayed in their opinions of something, like which team they are "supposed" to cheer for.

Are they transplants from NE or something?
I mean, I know that their closest options are teams from California ( :puke: ) , but still...seems like Denver would be a more logical choice. :notsure:

What seems to happen here is... whoever won the SB last year, is the team of choice. It just seems that NE is there a lot, so there has been a lot of that around here. Maybe I'm wrong and it will all stay when they stop winning, but I'd like to see that.

because he doesn't consistently win Super Bowls and turn practice squad receivers into studs with how good he is
