Who cares who started it. It should never get to that point. Not a good look for the NFL and it's all because of Garrett. I love watching football, but this was the first time I felt disgusted watching it.

 

Then Rudolph calls Myles a coward in the post game. The coward was the one going after a guy that’s behind held back by 600+ lbs worth of man.

 

QBs are protected.. (okay, some. Thanks for the helmet hit on wilson without penalty monday night refs). So the 'right' thing for a dline to do is to disengage if the ball is out. Period.

53 hit the QB late but disengaged immediately. 95 made no attempt to disengage.

 

That’s all true, but the rules don’t follow up by saying if the QB thinks his protection was violated he can try to rip a helmet off and fight.

 

I can understand some level of 'get off of me' and being riled up at the end of the game. Onus is still on the Defense to disengage, as the initiator of contact. If 95 immediately disengaged, instead of escalated, then the QB would be entirely at fault for resulting actions.

 

I would hope the NFL would learn to refrain from putting this horrible organization (Cleveland) on prime time games. Hearing Mayfields post game comments, dissing his coach and teammates... just liquidate that team and move on!

My one take was in sarcasm because honestly, who cares. They're all just a bunch of over paid children making millions of dollars to play a game. Every once in a while you get bopped on the head or you're the one doing the bopping. Take your suspension and enjoy your guaranteed money while sitting at home or the sidelines.

I don’t think there’s anything preventing a criminal charge for battery. Using weapons typically carries a higher offense.

But then again, it’s kinda like being shot w your own gun when carrying a sidearm.

IMO, if you look closely, Garrett is already in Rudolph's face when Rudolph releases the ball so Garrett probably thought he was getting a sack, that's why he stayed with the tackle instead of disengaging.
