McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a new 12-year contract Friday that could be worth up to a record $115 million.

The total potential value would be the highest in NFL history, topping the 10-year, $103 million contract Drew Bledsoe signed with the New England Patriots in March 2001.

Not unprecedented but uncommon for sure. Someone mentioned Drew Bledsoe, though that contract there was no way in hell would be fulfilled. I think Brett Favre got 10 years in his prime as a Packer, damn close if not.

That's if it doesn't get rewritten, which I'll bet it does. Might be an opt out after X years for team and/or Patrick, similar to the Bledsoe deal mentioned before

Much of a jackass as I've always believed Gronk to be, he definitely used his head in terms of money..or had someone guiding him, but either way he's definitely set for life comfortably. I'm surprised he's going to play again to be honest because it's not like he's hard up.

Time will tell, but it could end up they have people willing to play for less money to get a better shot to win a ring or rejuvenate their careers like the Pats did with Corey Dillon, Randy Moss, etc

I like the Monarchs. If a king, queen or emperor get offended, who of us downtrodden would care. Comes with the territory IMHO

 

Just read an news report last night that the teams in discussions (and these are only discussions at this point) with Native American tribes to change names are:
Washington Redskins
Cleveland Indians
Kansas City Chiefs
Atlanta Braves
Chicago Blackhawks
some minor league nobody team I already forgot
Edmonton Eskimos

Not mentioned in the discussion but was in the report were the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have no mention of NA imagery anywhere in their name despite some past tribal complaints that they borrowed upon the story of the Shawnee Chief who was known as Blue Jacket. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Jacket
