Generational QB’s are, well, generational. He’s who we have now and I’d rather have one that wins ugly than loses pretty. If the guys believe in him that’s all I ask. They bust ass to cover for him and he lays it all on the line for them. Salary caps force movement but during his tenure not one player demanded to be traded. Rodgers could make the job look easy but Jimmy still got the job done. A QB is so much more than a guy with an arm who takes the snaps. Lance may someday be that guy but it’s no sure bet, there are far more busts than HOF’s. Jimmy turned this team around the moment he arrived so try and appreciate him for what he is rather than what he isn’t. Not a hall of famer but maybe a guy with just enough to win with his teammates. They’ve all screwed up at some point but sticking and believing in each other has got them this far, we should believe in them as well. 49er Faithful.

That may all be true. But those guys almost never win the Super Bowl. I’m pulling for them though. To your point, quarterbacks who are paid like franchise quarterbacks also rarely win Super Bowls because the roster gets gutted. Unless they are Brady or a Manning pretty much.

not only that, his receivers don’t the PI and holding call either. It’s pathetic the calls that go against people defending Brady’s weapons. Been like that for years

You mean guys like Flacco, or Warner? Lynch seems to know what he’s doing But Jimmy got the contract because that’s what we paid him knowing we couldn’t find a better bargain and we needed a QB immediately. Rarely do you get a bargain that way. Bargains come from late round picks(Brady)and undrafted free agents(Warner) not mid season trades or moving up on draft day. GM’s get paid to balance those choices and the hits and misses both in talent and character determine the quality of the roster. The salary cap leveled the field and forced gm’s to balance those choices but when you have a need to fill and a shortage of talent somebody’s getting paid.

I can understand that sure. To be honest I don't refer to him as GOAT..never have. I don't think it can really be a thing yay or nay until he retires.

Aaron what pisses me off the most is the Deflategate thing. He openly admitted overinflating footballs while that was going on and not one word was said to him or the organization by the league.

I have a theory about JG, maybe he was on the bench too long and was babied..not unlike Joba Chamberlain by the NYY.

Fair, though part of the Patriots winning those 6 rings was Brady time and again taking far less than market or his true worth in contracts so the team was able to add other talent around him.

    Or Trent Dilfer. Haha

Warner remember was on a peanuts contract back when the Rams were a juggernaut.

And agreed, bargains are what win. Much like in fantasy sports. For the cost of JG...to be fair, he'd have had to be extraordinary to justify that money and that's not a slight on him.

I still think the Patriots screwed the pooch trading him last minute versus on draft day that year, would have yielded much more in return on draft picks..though the picks mean nothing until we know what they turn into

Still blows me away that the guy(Saints game?)that grabbed Kittle by the helmet/face mask and held on for 20 yards wasn’t ejected on the spot. But in general I disagree mainly because really good QB’a and receivers know how to throw open with back shoulder fades or inside/outside position and create contact with changing speeds. Many of the early completions by the Rams 2 weeks ago were playable balls for the defense but simply not played. It’s not enough to just be there, you have to make a play on the ball or you’re a sitting duck for a completion or pi. Great receivers don’t wait for the ball to come to them, they go and get it and playing the ball is the #1 thing refs look for if there’s any contact. If both are playing the ball then it’s who has position but if you aren’t playing the ball you lose every time. Jimmy isn’t accurate enough to place throws that effectively and while talented at yac there’s another level that the best receivers have at the position that ours don’t.

Going back over 2 decades for Warner, that was lighting in a bottle. And that Flacco playoff run, way above anything jimmy G has ever accomplished. I also didn’t say it cant be done. But those 2 examples are of QB,s that played a big role in their teams winning. Jimmy is along for the ride and just trying not to screw it up, margin of error is way smaller
like Peyton’s last year or dilfers Super Bowl if we want the go that far back. I said rarely. Not never or impossible

I agree that it’s harder to have dynasties now than before the cap which makes Brady/Belichick all the more impressive but elite QB’s still win titles, just not all of them. The one place that the GM’s eye for talent can make the biggest difference is on special teams, for the salaries commanded they play a disproportionate role, especially in the playoffs where the margins of victory get slimmer plus that is where all of your bench depth resides. One of the 9 rotational defensive linemen for the niners was Willis that blocked the punt that tied the game. GB was last in special teams play during the season and was even worse this game whereas the niners were average during the season but have improved dramatically lately. I don’t think Robbie Gould was completely healthy after he came back but that doesn’t excuse the poor kick return/coverage disparity. I believe that may yet be an Achilles heel but Deebo certainly showed he can still do that job at a high level even though he hadn’t done it as a pro until this game, his vision and acceleration are incredible.

    Oh look, another mod....
I've been watching this game for 30 minutes now, and Brady hasn't cried once about a foul. (Yet).
