I know there are bad calls in most every game, but do you really think the NFL is telling refs to bias their calls in the Chiefs favor to get more Swifties to tune in? If so, why are you even watching the NFL? Are you entertained by their scripted season?

You mean another NFC title game as the real one? Processing seems to be the one metric that’s hardest to identify and quantify at that age other than heart/leadership. Both attributes seem undervalued relative to visible college exposure and combine metrics. When you show that they help you perform they should get the same weight as arm strength or foot speed since the bottom line should be how well you help those around you win games with whatever skills you possess. Yes 3 losses but I just don’t see anyone else whose played as many games this season at this level including head to head. He doesn’t hit you on the head with it but you still end bleeding by the curb wondering how it happened. Weapons is the explanation for those who forget who wields the knife.

I defy any QB in the entire NFL to argue they are even close to Brock in:
Wins/$
TD’s/$
Yds/$
Completion %/$
# Bad Ass teammates you couldn’t otherwise sign that make it even more likely you win/$

Their arguement is absurd and they keep ignoring what he’s already doing and demanding he prove it again.Plus the fact that they he’ll be on his rookie deal 3 years while we can continue to bank HOFers.

Regular season award but they hand one out for that too. I don’t actually believe it should be correlated to salary but “value” shouldn’t be defined to exclude a player because of how he does the job. Was merely pointing out that the depth of talent is only possible because of him. It shouldn’t be held against him.

 

So your value comparison is only fair when comparing rookie contracts to other rookie contracts. And veterans to veterans. If he has Mahomes success in his first 5 years he will demand Mahomes/Burrow/Jackson/etc money.

I’m not bashing him, I’m actually very impressed so far. Hitting a home run like that in the draft does give you a window to fill the rest of the team up (like McCaffrey). They are the team to beat for certain. But they can be beat.

 

Good points for sure. Look at Tom Brady, he was on his first contract which was less than $1million for 3 years when he won the first Super Bowl for instance. He definitely got paid more after that to be sure (as I suspect Brock shall).

Remember too that Tom would also take less than his worth with the Patriots in order to have other players signed around him.

 

It is fair. Contracts determine who else you can afford to pay. Brady knew this. You can’t convince me that accurate pre and post snap reads combined with the ability to go through progressions and hit the most open guy(because they damn well all aren’t open every play) time after time in less time than others with years in the league doesn’t count at least as much as running for a first down instead. It doesn’t do any good to have a team full of studs if the ball doesn’t get there. It’s not a simple “system”. The number of times Jimmy missed wide open guys or threw brain dead pics drove people crazy. He was better than anything we’d had in a long time but so not this good.
Sure, any team can be beat. It’s not necessary to be undefeated, just better when it counts. 3-0 division, 7-1 conference, that’s better than Dak, Jalen, Tua & Hill, Trevor, Mahomes, Lamar, or Goff.

 

I’m just saying wins/$ is not a good value formula for comparing veterans to rookie contracts. it is oversimplification. If Joe Burrow went 17-0 and Brock Purdy went 1-16, SF would still pay 4x less per win than Cincinnati . Would you brag about that ‘value’? I am not arguing SF hit gold with the Mr. Irrelevant pick, and it gives them a 4-year window for paying big elsewhere until he demands the big contract. I will actually root for them unless KC finds some mojo and meets them in the Super Bowl (unlikely).

 

Any good games today? I hope the Eagles, Niners, Chiefs, Dolphins and Ravens get beat. That way Nfc and Afc becomes complete shit shows.

But he isn’t 1-16 and THAT’S the point. He’s matching or exceeding veterans stats across the board and has been doing it since his first game last year. His only 3 losses in the regular season over that entire time the whole team underperformed. Those 3 teams are all at or above .500 and it’s very hard to argue they wouldn’t be even better if not for all 3 of those teams losing THEIR starting QB’s. Show me any QB on any team that has performed at as consistently high a level against every level of competition since stepping onto the field. While it’s way too soon to say he is the MVP, it’s ridiculous to say he can’t be.

It is sad the Falcons are a division leader, but their division sucks. All of those teams have trash ass coaches.

 

If this entire thread was a case for Purdy to be considered an MVP candidate then I’m not arguing with you. He’s in the mix. I was just saying if you want to compare w/$ of Purdy to Mahomes you need to look at a Mahomes 2018 season. In 3 years Purdy’s w/$ won’t look as good as some rookie (like Stroud) even if Purdy is still playing great. Stats/$ isn’t an MVP argument, stats alone are. And Purdy is up there with the best this year.
