Inadequate sample size. In my lifetime both the Niners and Cowboys as well as the Patriots for the opposite side make Sushi of that assessment. The Bills probably have one of the more disappointing/frustrating records over that time but there are other teams that barely get participation awards.

 

Inadequate sample size for those over 30, correct. It was a stat meant to expose ‘recent’ frustration. Or more accurately, a stat meant to get some reaction and start some trash talk (mission accomplished). There is no other way to poke fun of 2 of the top 5 all time successful franchises than to limit the sample size (my top 5 list in no specific order are Packers, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Patriots).

 

Chiefs are knocking and have a solid shot. Between free agency and the salary cap it’s become harder to sustain team excellence but since it all revolves around QB-1 it’s still doable if the franchise has it’s head on straight. There will still be Cinderella teams that win with one hit wonders but the repeat regulars show who the class of the league is.

 

Definitely agree Chiefs have the ability this year.

Cap era just confirms it. The reason the Patriots did it twice is because TFB always took a good chunk off the usual to keep the team competitive..as well as others on the team. Be it Tedy Bruschi (who played here his whole career) or Corey Dillon and Randy Moss who took less than market to be a winner.

Honestly I don’t see a 3-peat just because it’s so hard to do, although a 7th straight AFC title appearance is at least a 50% shot in my mind. But if they can win it all with last years crew, no doubt it’s possible again.

Both teams look dangerously-good. But the first game is always wrong. But yeah - both have great players who did great things. Except that one Raven who lined up like 12 times illegally.
