Nice stop by Philly on 4th down.

 

Washington ran out of steam & Philly figured out how to move the ball & get into the endzone in the second half. I hope the Eagles kicker doesn't have a long lease signed on his apartment as he is soon to be fired.

 

Is anybody really that surprised about DC? Quinn is a good coach with a decent roster in a bad division, he’s won everywhere he’s been if he hasn’t had others bringing him down. When he was in Seattle=Super Bowl team, in Atlanta=Super Bowl team, in Dallas=best they’ve looked in the last decade, and hid Mike McCarthy’s apparent incompetence. I hope he wins it all, the rest of the NFC ain’t shit.

 

The surprise to me is how quick the turnaround has been. Usually you see it build up over a season or two (like the Lions). Seeing the Texans go from the cellar to a playoff team in 1 year was also a surprise to me. If you are going to credit Goodell and the NFL owners for one thing, it’s the success in parity (draft, salary cap, free agency, scheduling, …). It gives hope to every fan out there that they could be on top in a short time.

Except the Browns.

You are right on the money. Dan Quinn is a winner. He built the Legion of Boom (LOB) & got Seattle to the superbowl twice, with a massive victory over the Broncos and a 'should of been' victory against the evil empire (Patriots), had Pete Carroll just gone Beast Mode (Marshawn Lynch) to win the game instead of trying to make golden boy Russell the hero (it kills me to this day.)

His success in Atlanta, Dallas, and now Washington shows HE is the common denominator for the improvements in each case & his luck in getting Jayden Daniels as QB is just accelerating things for the Commanders (can we just go back to the Redskin name? Please?!)

I wish Dan Quinn all good fortune, right up until they play the Seahawks, then I really want his teams to have ONE bad night. (Go Hawks!)

But so true - how are the Browns so bad all the time? It's as if they are cursed.

I had to wait 38 years to see my Seahawks finally win the big one. I felt like a long suffering fan who had finally been rewarded for my long standing loyalty. But then I look at Cleveland and Detroit - now there are some long suffering fans! Maybe this is the Year of the Lions. They were oh so close last year. They are hungry for it and Dan Cambell has them believing they can do it. (Cleveland? You had to give your team to Baltimore to finally see them win the big one. Dang...)

 

KC had a near 1/2 century of post-season futility before this run. If we aren’t in the SB I could easily root for the Lions.

 

Even with salary cap and draft priority owners still have to get a good GM & HC who then gather the players and coaches. Good teams get poached, bad teams don’t. Niners couldn’t put anything together until York hired Lynch and Shanahan but look around the league and it’s easy to find both players and coaches either picked by Lynch or hired by Shanahan.

 

Niners D has slipped this season. I think they need some stability with coordinators there. They are on I believe their 6th DC in the last ten years.
