Saying that re Mahomes being the best, where would you place TFB on your list?

I've long said if anyone in the game now can rival Brady when all is said and done at the position it has to be Patrick.

Part of me says anyone but KC..and as a Pats fan I'm seeing why people hated us when we won for so long too. Like to see Saquon get one.

Other part says a 3 peat is historic in the league.

As of right now Brady is the best ever but I can see Mahomes, by the end of his career surplanting Brady. He does things on the field Brady never did and is a far more mobile QB. Even if Mahomes doesn’t get 7 SB wins it will be a discussion to be had. Just my opinion…

GOAT? No matter what Mahomes does he and Brady will be a Michael Jordan vs LeBron argument. People firmly in each camp with a few Kobe’s thrown in and an old timer saying Bill Russel. In this case that’s probably a Joe Montana vote.

Patrick at age 29 already has the 2nd most career playoff victories in history. Yet he is just getting to 1/2 what Tom has. Tom took great care of his health and had incredible longevity. Patrick already said he doesn’t plan on playing as many years as TB12 did.

And then there is the fact Patrick’s 17-3 playoff record includes 0-2 against Tom.

The one playoff stat to give some credit to Patrick is this. Career postseason passer rating (per pro-football-reference .com)
    Patrick 105.8, #2 all time
    Tom 89.8, #23 all time

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I can agree with that. Especially since it's a different game now than it was 10 years ago.

Absolutely. I think the Cornhusker’s 1995 season is one of the best college teams ever “for their era”. They beat 4 teams that finished in the Top 9 that were a combined 39-0 against other teams, and beat them by an average of 30 points. Yet I think half of this years 12 playoff teams would beat them.

If you can count TB and Patrick as different eras despite the 4 year overlap, they both are GOAT material.

There is also a distinction between ‘great’ and ‘successful’. Best QB example is Dan Marino.

Absolutely will when that time comes. No way to know, too many intangibles and things out of the player's control. Remember too that I always said I will not decide re Tom until he officially retires..

It could well be that argument, sure. You forgot Larry Bird on your basketball list too.

And yes, Tom is an anomaly. How many position players that aren't kickers play till age 45? Virtually none. Plus he had only the one year he was injured, and lost 4 games due to that football PSI rubbish.

Arguable. All that week after Saquon hit 2000 and it was "will he break ED's record" many said it's bullshit since the games per year was different.

While it still stings that the Pats went 18-1 that year, an unbeaten regular season is still pretty impressive.

Dan M is a tough one, never won the big one but then again that's not a decider per se in my book.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Don't forget about all of the scandal's that will forever be an asterisk in the TFB conversation. No doubt TFB is and will probably always be the most successful QB. In my mind he is probably not even top 10 as far as being the best. Dude was one hell of a game manager but he was not a very good athlete on the standard that we measure players by. Rarely did something amazing. He is a hell of a competitor, he is able to execute the game plan and get the best out of the pieces provided to him. He is smart and able to read a defense pretty well. All that added up to him being the most successful ever. The fact that he went to Tampa and did it with that team shows what strengths those things are. I attribute the majority of his success to his sheer desire to win. He sacrificed everything to win in whatever system he was in. Dudes diet alone is something 99.9999% of the population is not willing to endure. I am not fan of TFB but I respect the hell out of the dedication he had and the sacrifices he made to be great. This is where he is different than anyone ever. And in those respects he will probably always stand head and shoulders above anyone else.
One thing is for sure. TFB will not go down as a great commentator. He is absolute garbage in the booth!

I remember the accusations of the recording/video of the Eagles in 2004 SB, ‘deflategate’/Colts…Being an Eagles fan, I don’t buy it. There was no legit evidence revealed in either case.
Roger Goodell suspended Brady on zero factual evidence. Goodell is scum in my opinion.
Brady is the GOAT (for now) in my book.

Tough to say re the athlete/amazing type thing, as there are those who it matters to and others it does not. He could definitely manage a game well..remember those early Super Bowls were mostly won by the defense and some clown named A Vinatieri.

Tampa, that year he went there they had a better offense re weapons for Tom. Evans, Godwin, the run game. I hate to speak of Gronk but he had a rapport with Tom that was big despite him being a lumbering oaf at that point.

I'll say this..you never heard about Tom out at the bars stage diving at an Everclear show or rolling his truck on the highway (ask if you don't get it haha). Was always home and off to sleep early, plus as you said the diet and such. Sacrifice, just look at the fact he never got paid close to market value in New England, not once..he took less to have the team build alongside/around him.

Re commentary..eh..there's room for improvement there. Though better than Joe Buck, though that's not saying a lot.

The deflate thing..I think it could have been handled better. Both sides (the team and the league) did not do everything right in my book. It could easily have been said by the league that it's something that hasn't been enforced as it should be and will in future seasons, this/that will change, and get on with life.

Among other things, Aaron Rodgers when that was happening openly admitted to overinflating the balls himself. Yet not one word was said to him or the Packers.

My friend had a flag that said "Goodell is a douche"..haha

I believe part of that is his analytical mind. He's not stupid and knows the game as well as anyone. I believe that his mind just over thinks what he's trying to say.

I may be the minority here but I actually like TB in the booth. Him and Romo both break down the plays and explain why they ran them and what coverages are trying to do to stop them.

Romo COULD be a great commentator. His knowledge is evident. But he keeps talking over the play by play guy. If he talks about 25% less he’d be great.

Man the AFC West is loaded with coaches. That doesn’t always translate to wins but that division COULD rival the AFC North in a few years.
