No, he lost his job to Maxwell. He had been pulled out of games twice in the last few weeks he played for Maxwell and would not have started had he come back from suspension.

Well now Thurmond is gone too, that's two of their best DBs. Also Chris Clemons is gone right?

Thurmond was 3rd string, I wouldn't say one of their best DB's. He was probably our 6th best DB. Thomas, Sherman, Chancellor, Maxwell, Browner, Thurmond/Lane. Thurmond lost the job to Maxwell and then Lane. Maxwell was the clear starter throughout the playoffs and Thurmond was splitting time with Lane.

Clemons is old. He and Red Bryants snaps went drastically down throughout the season to Bennett and Avril.

To summarize for everyone: The starting DB's for the Hawks early in the season were Thomas and Chancellor, Sherman and Browner. Thurmond in the nickel. Maxwell and Lane were 6 and 7. By the end of the season Maxwell and Lane were 4 and 5 ahead of Browner and Thurmond. Their chance came because of injury and suspension but they both outperformed Browner and Thurmond by seasons end. It was clear that Carroll preferred them, Thurmond came back from suspension and couldn't win back his job over either of them. Maxwell started the Super Bowl and easily held his own at one point stripping D. Thomas who got very lazy with the ball.

On the D-Line Bryant and Clemons were also not starters by the end of the season. Mebane, McDaniel, Avril and Bennett with Bennett playing DT or DE depending on personnel and down/distance. Bryant and Clemons subbed in on a rotation. McDonald is a bigger loss than either of those two but they kept Bennett and McDaniel which were huge. They have a guy who was on the IR Jordan Hill that Carroll and Schneider think will be a star.

The only player people in Seattle are a little worried about losing is Tate and only because he had amazing hands and was ridiculous in the broken play scenario. His route running was not very good but when Wilson got out of the pocket Tate had a way of getting open.

Hopefully you get some good offensive play makers. If any of your starting DB's get hurt, you don't have a lot of depth now, plus I think Thurmond and Browner being gone will be a bigger impact than you seem to think. Your offense was nothing special, thus the nervousness from Tate leaving. I think Harvin will be great for you guys, as long as he doesn't go back on the Derrick Rose plan. Wilson is ok, but not someone who can put the offense on his shoulders and carry the team through a win. Hopefully your defense stays healthy, and you draft some good receivers, if that happens you guys will have another good year, but I don't see you repeating.

Harvin is the big time wildcard. If he can return to form he might make you forget Tate real quick.

People keep talking about the Hawks offense not being great. When you destroy the "best offense ever in the NFL" you don't need a whole hell of a lot of offense..but we had plenty.

We tied with GB for the 8th most PPG on offense. 8th. Ahead of teams like New Orleans, SF and Detroit. I think our offense is fine, of course it doesn't get the attention because our Defense is one of the best of all time. You lose Tate but the 2nd youngest SB team in history gets older and more experienced. We were decimated on the offensive line until the end of the season, arguably, we could have been better than 8th in PPG with a healthy Harvin and/or O-Line.

    #1 Defense
    #8 Offense
    = 9 Total

That's damn good and a recipe for a SB.

    NE #26 and #3 = 29 Total
    Denver #19 and #1 = 20 Total
    SF #3 and #11 = 14 Total

this is exactly what I'm saying. Thanks to your defense, a mind blowing offense wasn't needed. If one of your DB's gets hurt now, like Sherman did in the SB, you guys are kind of fucked. Again, like I said, if you can pick up a couple good receivers, and some depth for your defense, you will have another good team, but I don't see you repeating. As much as I hate to say it, Denver is thirsty...

No way Denver wins a SB, soft as fuck. I never really tee'd off on them after the game but that team overall was the softest pussy hitting team in the NFL. Quitting pussies. The Super Bowl video the Hawks put out had all kinds of chatter on the sidelines about them quitting early in the game. It even catches John Fox talking about how crazy fast and physical the Hawks were. "Never seen anything like it"

If I were a Denver fan I would have been ashamed to wear anything with that shit on it.

Yeah we got embarrassed by the Seahawks. Congrats on your first Super Bowl ever as a franchise, that must have been nice to finally win one. We will be back.

That was the report, which, less than an hour later, was said to be false.
