Well, you DID need scab refs that screwed up so badly there's a new internet meme AND a commonly used term in the english language just to try and explain how badly they fucked up.

They screwed up so badly the real refs came back to work.

So, no, I'm not sad. It got those terrible scabs off the field. We still made the playoffs.

Would I have preferred to not have that game as an L? Surely. that would have meant home field for us in the playoffs, and that's big.

But I'll take it to have the real refs back at that point.

But that's not the point go ahead an enjoy that ... well, single trophy in the case. You earned it and the team is looking even more badass this year.

    Also of note:

we now have the siding scale of NFL punishment

knock the bitch out cold - 2 games
drink a beer with matt prater - 4 games
also: ecstacy and speed - 4 games
rich white owner with crippling addiction to painkillers and zombie driving - 6 'games'
oopsie i just killed my team-mate while drunk driving - 10 games

Your argument would work better if the game you were referencing actually happened last season instead of 2 year ago...

That's the last time they played. I take it that isn't what was meant?

Looked to me that the reference was to the Super Bowl victory in February.

Ahh, no wonder I didn't catch it then. Doesn't really make sense much as my team didn't even play in the Owl, but whatever.

Generic argument. Basically any team other than Seattle is probably pissed about something from last season. Same as it is every year, only team and fans really happy are the ones with the trophy.

I get it. I mean, the 'Hawks fans are like 6 year olds halfway through their first Mountain Dew and bouncing off the walls. I know this...your first time is a doozy.

But, to quote some folks in a related argument : After a certain point, you should act like you been there. Spike it and jog the hell back to your bench, we don't need to see half the offense re-enacting Riverdance on the back endzone line. Let the ST guys line up already.

Not much different than listening about the "Fail Mary" over and over. I get that it really screwed over the Packers by costing them playoff seeding but it really doesn't bother anybody else.

In my defense on that one, I only brought it up as I thought that's what HE was referring to, as the last time the Pack played @ Seattle, plus a nice lead in to Thursdays game!

Ah well, live and learn. I love the internet, where you can step on your own dick while walking down the street.

No worries. There has been a bunch of articles bringing it back up as a talking point. I am curious if it has lost some luster for Packer fans since Tate left for Detroit. Everyone knew that year that some team would be the sacrificial goat for the league in order to get the real refs back and unfortunately for the Packers and their fans it was them.

I can say as a Packer fan that spends some fair amount of time with other Packer fans...within about two weeks of it happening it was gone.

Until playoff seeding came down...then it was nuclear outrage again for like 2 weeks.

Then basically gone again (for the most part) until this years opener was announced....and the NFL et al won't let it go. That's the only reason it's brought up any more. Almost every cheesehead I know let it go last offseason unless someone else brought it up.

They have it on the NFL main page is season kickoff, fail mary's revenge ffs. This isn't Packer fans doing.

Media trying to find a juicy storyline where there isn't one. Should be a great game on Thursday!

    I hope we win.

    I'm guessing we lose.

I'm not betting on either. I know I'm too close to this one to be objective.

The upside is, this is the healthiest your team will be all year. This is it: 100% balls to the wall with all your guns...well "Fire all of your guns at once and explode into space"!

It will be an all out game, regardless

That it will. Crowd will be going crazy as it is the opener and the only primetime home game scheduled for this year.
