Talking about bandwagon fans, yes I started rooting for the Steelers in 2005, but that's because I was A) too young to care before and B) have a mother who grew up in Pittsburgh in the '70s, it wouldn't have been my choice even if they hadn't been doing well! :D

The announcers were in love with him yesterday ... I think he's a joke.

The games mean nothing, they have no weight toward the regular season or playoffs. The only way they contribute to the regular season is if starters are injured during these practice games, nothing good comes of them.
I love the NFL, I start watching when it starts for real.

That's funny. I love my team and watch the pre-season so I can get a look at the guys that might be on the bottom half of the roster, and come in as injuries happen across the season

Frank Clarke, Cassius Marsh, Christine (fumble) Michael, Tharold Simon, Dion Bailey, Robert Turbin, Tyler Lockette, Chris Matthews, Kasen Williams.... All young players that will be asked to make an impact this year and next year. When you have a team that drafts and develops talent as good as the Seahawk you watch the preseason. The players you see playing in the 2nd quarter will be playing a big role for your team soon, maybe even that year. I remember watching Richard Sherman in the preseason and Earl Thomas.

That's why I watch the preseason.

Preseason means a lot to the guys that get to play. These guys are playing harder than your regular starters because they're trying to make the next cut. Your big stars might get to play for a minute to knock some rust off, but they don't care. They're out there trying to not get hurt. Meanwhile, their backups come in and play their hearts out.

Eli wants to be the highest paid in the league. Worth it? I don't think so.

Manning's not even the best quarterback in his division, much less conference or entire league. I don't BLAME him for wanting to be the highest paid, because hey, money!

I'd love to be the highest paid sysadmin in America!

However, I know I'm not worth that, and I wouldn't "hold out" to try and get it.

Frankly, I don't know if I'd rank him top 10 at this point. Right around there, anyhow.

Even though he put up some big yards, he's chucked way too many picks the last few seasons.

Ben McAdoo's system relies on a smart, accurate passer that makes fast good decisions. When your QB fits this description, it works really well (See: Aaron Rodgers)

Eli has the physical tools, but I don't know if he's got the mental side of it. I don't follow the Gints though, so that could just be lack of time watching him play on my part. Bad decisions in that offense lead to turnovers.

    Some really cool shit
Well written article. All I'll add is that Kaep took a step by admitting that he needed help. He went to Warners camp, and perhaps something good will come of it. I'm not ready to write the dude off. Should be a very revealing season. Gonna be quite the challenge for Kaep, given all the changes around him. May end up with the same problem Alex Smith had, with constant changes to the coaching staff. Sheesh, I hope not.

    Yep.

Peter King is a twat but he has some excellent folks on staff. Andy Benoit is smart and a film junkie...I love his stuff.

    EDITED to add:

Now that I read Andy's long and well-written piece, I'm happy to know I'm not a COMPLETE retard when I watch tape.

I don't think he's ready to be 'written off' either. But unless something fundamentally changes....unless he find an offense and an offensive coordinator that manages to get him to really grok how to play QB and have that "Ah-HAH!" moment, he's not good enough to consistently be a playoff-level QB.

I think we might be getting to Peak JJ.

That said, look at this throw. For a DE to the upper deck from the field

That said, I've got a man-crush on Watt

I agree. It's fish or cut bait time for Kap. All these new people, players and staff are either going to gel or not. I hope it's not a clusterfuck of who's in charge instead of getting it done. If Kap blows up however, I kind of like Gabbert. I also like this crazed rugby dude Jarryd Hayne. Maybe him and Hyde can take some pressure off. The D shows promise after the first pre-season. Decent goal line stands, tough in the red zone. I want to believe.
