I hate to say it, but Sherman was reaching down for the ball which caused his shoulder to lower. Not dirty. Either way, I find him irritating as F*CK and him staring down Rexy just shows how classless he is

 

If he wanted just to go for the ball he would've just gone for the ball. Again, why only try to touch the ball when you clearly have enough time to dive straight on top of it?

Sherman dove right past the holder and the ball and into Carpenter's leg. the holder is the player in possession of the ball, not the kicker. it's different than a punt because the punter is in possession of the ball. You can tackle him before he kicks it. if Sherman had gone for the ball and Carpenter kicked him or had Sherman hit Carpenter's leg while he was kicking at the ball, it'd be a different story, but Sherman didn't play the ball, he targeted Carpenter's leg.

Thank you, fuck, some honesty in here. As far as staring at Ryan... see that all the time from players. As a Seahawk I love it, I also understand how other fans of others teams wouldn't.

 

He was entirely unimpeded... he could take any angle he wanted.

 

So he dove right past the holder but put his hand squarely on the ball? Interesting theory you have there. Sherman didn't play the ball? Watch the replay. He gets to the ball before there is any contact with the kicker.

No, actually he had to take the most direct angle to the holder, he can't simply choose any angle he wanted? Shortest distance man c'mon.

 

A player of his importance isn't likely to dive right in front of a kicker in full swing. Sure he could have dove on the ball but that means a extremely powerful leg is coming right at his exposed hands/arms/torso. It would be stupid for him to do that when he can let out in front and block the ball and avoid any injury to himself. That's what I took from that block. He just was so far in front of the kicker because of the offsides that he missed blocking the ball almost completely and hit the kicker.

 

He could've taken the same angle been and just laid out sooner and would've squarely made contact with the ball. And that would've removed any chance he misses the ball and somehow the kick gets off clean.

 

I did watch the video. If he was playing the ball, he would have dove into the holder. Instead he went past the holder and plowed his shoulder into Carpenter's leg. His reaching for the ball with one arm is irrelevant.

Did Sherman even touch the ball? It sure didn't look like it.

So he barely touched it with his hand. Carpenter was still able to kick it.

Why not just dive into the ball and block the kick?

 

He was there too early, if he dives at full speed there's a good chance he dives right on by. He was off sides by a mile.

 

On the last play, Earl Thomas should have been called for illegal contact because he bumped into the WR when he broke for the ball. That's why the WR was looking for a flag.

And not to mention the whole debacle before half. Sherman shoulda been called for a personal foul, and then when the Bills got the delay of game penalty, it was total BS bc the ref didn't get off the ball until there was 5 sec left on the play clock.

Crazy shit always happens with the ref with the Seahawks on prime time

 

You posted the gif during and/or after that comment. that view was not available on the vid link you posted.

Someone tell me why you brush the ball with your hand while it's on the ground instead of dive into the ball. His method didn't even prevent the ball from getting kicked or completely block it. Hell, if he didn't hit Carpenter, the field goal very well could have been good.

It seems pretty clear that Sherman was going after Carpenter's leg and happened to see the ball out of the corner of his eye and reached for it with his left hand.

Sherman doesn't even see the knee, c'mon guys admit it. Scary play but no intent. If he dives at full speed he misses the kick, he's too early.

 

So he saw the knee before it was there, decided to tap the ball and then take the knee out without looking?
