You Seabums keep Bringing up that super bowl like it's going to change to outcome. He made the Catch, you lost take it like a man or learn to live with it either way STFU about that.

 

I've seen a lot less than that draw a penalty for roughing the kicker.

 

You can be flagged for "running into the kicker" or "roughing the kicker". The 1st is a 5 yard penalty, the 2nd is a personal foul with a 15 yard penalty and automatic 1st down. Had Sherman not been off sides there should have at the minimum been a "running into the kicker" penalty. But being off side and continuing with the play makes it a personal foul if ANY contact happens. They didn't have to call roughing the kicker, they could have just as easily called un necessary roughness, or a late hit. The whistle blew and not hearing it is no excuse. Take your pick, they had the option of 3 different 15 yard penalties.

All kickers add a little drama anytime they are touched. It can make the difference between a 5 yard or 15 yard penalty if they can convince the ref they were roughed instead of run into.

The bigger ref screw up was not resetting the play clock. They didn't even get out of the way until less than 5 seconds were on the play clock and didn't stop the play even though the ball was snapped a good 3-4 seconds after the play clock hit zero. Bad night for the Zebra's.

FWIW I don't give a darn about either team. I could have only been happy if both could have found a way to lose. Just hate to see anyone screwed over by the guys in stripes.

 

It all in how the Team reacts to what happened on the field. They can be defeated be it ala the Bears the past years. Or you can overcome these thing ala the Patriots.

 

You didn't watch the video I posted nor did you hear Walt Coleman after the game. There was no whistle until after the contact with the kicker happened. Sorry to burst your bubble.

 

Also, more rules stuff for you my friend, IF they blow the whistle for offsides on the Seahawks you CAN NOT be flagged for running into the kicker or roughing the kicker. You can only be called for unnecessary roughness or unsportsmanlike conduct. Sherman should have been flagged for unnecessary roughness if anything. The head official said he did not throw the flag because there was no whistle and he did not see any intent to injure, nor was the hit late due to no whistle.

 

You can say that about even penalty called or not called in the NFL.

 

One ex-official said "There's holding on every single play in football. It's just weather we want to call it or not."

 

To clarify I'm not saying you did at all. I'm just explaining my fervor in defending him. I was asking you what you would do if people were calling Bowman cheap and classless.

My comment was "No way" as in I'm not shutting up and dropping it.

 

And it was made clear by Blandino that... the official was wrong. Case closed

Yeah, your right. Blandino said Sherman should have been flagged for unnecessary roughness.... that's very different from unsportsmanlike. Also, Blandino will clarify himself after he realized there was no whistle on the field. His comment immediately after assumed there was one.

 

That videos shows contact with the ball, the other segment shows his head down before the knee is there. He was looking at the ball as it was being held by the holder.

 

FWIW (very little, I know), I think the Seahawks are a good team. I think Sherman is a douche, but I digress...

I think the officiating in last night's game was about as bad as game I can recall.

 

The officiating is terrible all across the league. Other than the end of the half I thought it was better than I have seen lately. That segment was really bad though.

Blandino- "We looked at it, it is a foul."

He had plenty of time to look it over and decide what was the right call. These comments were not immediately after the play.

I don't have an objection with the fact that Sherman could have been flagged or even should have. Missed roughness penalties are a dime a dozen in the league. The argument I have been making this entire time is that it was not a cheap shot.
