About 4 now, the lines have blurred with all the variations they have. Prius C, Prius V, Prius Prime and the regular old Prius. That is a whole lot of lame going on.

Hey just so everyone knows I am still alive and have some truck parts on order. But the main reason for this post is to finally posting some pics of my DD build.

    20180217_165109.jpg

    20180217_165127.jpg

It is a 64 VW bug. It has a 71 bus motor in it. Which means it has 300 more CC's then stock and has been converted to 12v. So I still need to replace all the shocks, king pins, gas tank, battery, and just go through and make sure it runs good. This is my car from high school and has been sitting for about 6 years, so she needs some love.

Ok it us about time I do some real updates on the truck. This past weekend I finally took the time and adjusted my Hellas properly, granted I have had them for two years now. But I didn't want to rush the process. I ended up having to shave down the base an 1/8". Then I picked these puppies up two or three Fridays ago.

    20180313_191013.jpg

They are design for 4" of lift and 1000 lbs of stock. So I have not installed them yet because I have been waiting on a set of BAMF he shackle hangers and shackles, which shipped out today and should arrive on friday. So the hope is to install all those parts on Saturday.

Then we got the VW. I ordered up a bunch of parts on Saturday for it and they shipped out today as well, and are scheduled to arrive on Friday as well. The hope is to have the bug up and running before mid April so I can start saving on gas and miles on the truck. The parts include new shocks, gas tank and sending unit, and king pins. Also all the parts are German made and direct replacement oem parts. So Friday will be an exciting day and the weekend will be a busy one.

Ok time for the right up.

So yesturday with help from @Squeaky Penguin I put my BAMF HD shackles and shackle hangers and my new Alcan leaf springs. The hangers turned out to be a little harder to pull off then I thought. So each stock hanger has 4 rivets holding them to the frame. BAMF says you need to cut the bottom part of the hanger but you don't, just cut the visible rivet heads off and then take a bfh to them and they will pop off. Now to get the rest of the rivets out of the frame. You will need a couple different size punches and a few different size still bits to get them out. The rivets on the side of the frame are pretty to get out but the ones on the bottom are a pain. The main issue with the bottom ones is that rivets are also tacked to the X brace that is under the bed. You will want a c-clap to hold the x brace to cram as you beat the rivet out of the brace. Forgot to mention you will want drill about half way through the rivets before you start beating on them. Once you have them all out you will want a 1/2" drill bit to open the holes up just a little for the bolts. Once you have this all done start bolting everything up.

    Before pic

    20180318_091734.jpg

    20180318_091742.jpg
    After pics

So I gained about 3" of lift before settling so I figure after settling I will have about 2" of lift. That isn't the best part I gained 4-5" of down travel.

    20180317_175708.jpg

    20180317_175712.jpg

Now I am in serious need of a shock relocate. My new leafs have more down travel the my shocks can handle by about an inch.

    20180317_175704.jpg

So everybody knows the next step. Find a shock relocate that I like and order some shocks with the right travel, and most importantly save the money up for it all.

there is a good bit of rake now, which I like a lot, I had no rake with my old pack. Granted I did have rake when the all poo's were new. To me it feels more like a truck now, with the rake. I will have to let you know how they hold up but I am sure they will be worth it.

Well I have kinda failed at the trip report from two weeks ago but here it is.

So the first weekend of this month @Squeaky Penguin , @Wishbone Runner and I headed out to the San Rafael Swell for a three day weekend. The trip included us hiking the ding dang slot canyons on the first day and camped in a unexpectedly cool spot near the trail head of slot canyon, that I can't think of the name right now. But we found it after driving to what was called hidden splender but a better name would be, where the eyes in the hills live. While driving to hidden splender we are pretty sure we say a bunch of wild horses.

    20180330_194936.jpg

The next day we made our way through the red canyon and made two stops at two separate mines along the way. Our trek took us on the trail that goes under I-70. We end our day at the edge of the little grand canyon. By edge I mean a couple miles off the edge. We looked for a closer camp spot but the area was a little busy.

    20180331_195038.jpg
The final day involved us all being on E for gas and all decided to see who would run out of gas first and that would be squeaky. From there we proceeded to dump our spare gas in our trucks and book it to green river for gas and then headed to sand dunes to screw around for a while. Our way out of the sand dunes turned out to be a little hairy and butt puckering.

Got home on sunday from a ten day trip through Arizona and Nevada, with @Squeaky Penguin , @Wishbone Runner , and @Reh5108 . Was an awsome trip and hope to get some pics up this weekend. I had a couple miss haps on the trip, I ran into a rock destroyed a tire and busted a cam tab gusset off. After busting the gusset my alignment kept moving around, which led me to jack the truck up and found an upper ball joint was shot and had to change that. The day after changing the ball joint I got in contact with @snowsk8air2 to weld my tab back together. So a big thanks to Ryan for helping me out in pinch. Also on the second to last day I found my driveshaft got beat to crap at some point but not sure where.

    20180515_192057.jpg
It was no longer round in the silver spot but more square.
