Do you get any windshield glare with your roof lightbar ? Or dose the tint catch it all ??

Thx m8. Bumper will be looking even better before too long. Got the go ahead from kmf in Tucson for some custom light cutouts. Think he's gonna help me with mounting my double row 20"ers up top too, to replace my 42" single row.
Anyways, yeah, I still get some glare, but honestly it doesn't bother me much. Just gotta keep the windshield spotless. Ha. But I do think the tint strip is in fact catching a lot of it. I think itd be a helluva lot worse without it.

Right on. So your putting 2 twentys up on the roof ? On in your bumper.
I'm got some pretty epic windshield glare. Trying to decide what to do about it.
    Is your truck 2wd ?

Yeah two 20" double rows of the 10watt led type on the roof. I'm putting smaller 8" versions in the bumper cutouts. Same as I had in my oem bumper.

Have you seen those metal light bar visors that attach to the bottom of the light bar? Like an upside down visor. Ha. They're around the forums somewheres, member makes em. I think they're a good idea, but they're not without faults like vibrations, among questionable "aesthetic appeal" as well, imo.
I think a smaller version of that could've been done up, with the visor angled up, and a smaller lip, wouldve been more aesthetically pleasing imo... But then youd lose adjustment too I guess. Idk. There's really not a lot that can be done about it tho I think.

Other than a tint strip, which is much cheaper to try out, and does help a lot with the majority of the glare(although doesn't completely eliminate it) AND serves dual purposes for night AND day, lol. That's a win I'd say. ;)
But, ymmv, depending on your light bar optics, and it's position in relation to the windshield.

I might actually have this problem when I mount my 20" double rows up top, now that I think about it. Because I'm planning on mounting them lower over the windshield to account for the extra height. Maybe as low as the tint strip itself. Hmm. Oh well! Ha.

I've seen the light bar sheild. Kinda on the fence about its looks too. I was reading about putting a strip of nylon on the bottom of the bar to help with the splash kind of like a reverse sheild. I think with the tint the two will probably do the trick..
Thanks for your help. Keep your thead updated when you get the new lights in.
How come you never posted up you stero system ??

Is you box just a big cube ? We're did you put it ? Do you think that the 12 was to much for the small cab ?

This is where I have it.
    20170102_200215.jpg

And idk, im no expert, but it may be too much for the small cab. Only reason I say so, is because it sounds like shit with the windows up. Rolled down it hits way harder and is kinda perfect. Although I do want more. I have plans to make a whole storage box in the back, integrated into the back panel I put in. And integrate dual 12's in the bottom somehow. No idea when I'll get around to that tho.

I drilled holes in the panel and bolted it to the back where the backrest and seats were attached.

And a 10 would be good. Depends on how much bass you want. With this 12, it sounds great. But it's barely enough to rattle the truck. Don't get me wrong, it hits, but I wanna feel it in my chest. Ha. It can tickle my nose with the right song tho. Lol.

Hey! I was wondering if your ride quality has improved since adding your front bumper? I know you said that you thought they were a little too stiff before the bumper. I have OME now but just looking to get a little more lift in front without adding spacers.

Nope. They're still ridiculous. I don't see how they are even an option. I think even with any amount of additional weight up front that you could possibly add, theyd still be too stiff... I'm too lazy to worry about it rn tho. So I'll live with it until I get around to swapping stuff out. I do like the height tho.

Yep. Lemme know what you end up doing. If you add spacers with the ome's. I'm betting itd still be a better ride over the 650lb springs (even if they are preloaded a lil) due to the softer springs.

I'll certainly be swapping, at some point. But I'd still like to retain my height. If not, I may settle for 2.5" but I'll have to remove something in the rear dakars as well either way. Thus why I'm a lil anxious to do any swapping.

Just picked these up yesterday! Think 36's will fit!?

    20170828_181644.jpg

lol jk. I just got them for the rims. And hopefully fit tundra brakes. Printed out the template and tested fitted that and looks like ill need to put on some spacers. The guy i bought the rims from also threw in some 1.5" spacers, of which looks like the tundra calipers will clear with those for sure. A little thicker than i want, but oh well theyll work for now. Or at least whenever i get around to getting some 305/70/16's to slap on... Same style rims as i have now but 16x10 to replace my 15x10's. With some fake beadlock rings on em. They've been wheeled pretty good tho but look fine structurally. Just some rock rash on the trim rings, which im hoping to restore those. Paint em and get more bolts as a bunch are missing.

But yeah theyll have to wait for now. Been working on other stuffs. Put in oem lbj's and oreilly tie rod ends.. Swapped out my passenger side spindle as the ball joint race was worn out causing play with the slug adapter.. Took it all apart to replace the slugs as well as get some new bearings pressed in. The guys at napa were awesome and i discovered one owns a 3rd gen 4runner, the other a modded cherokee, so that was a bonus to have trust in them to work on my junk. But we decided a new spindle was in order before proceeding with the bearing swaps. Found a 4x4 4runner spindle with abs that a guy sold me cheap, even making a block off plate for the abs bung on the spindle. Took that in and everything swapped over fine(as mine is preunner hub and non abs). Just picked those back up yesterday too..

But before installing those i gotta deal with my leaking rack and pinion too! Ugh. Leaking out of the input shaft. Just gonna get a napa rack. Thought about trying to find a donor rack that i can swap out the input shafts, but meh. Napas got a lifetime warranty on theirs so yeah. Sounds good to me. Ready to be done with it and get er back on the road!!

Also cleaned these up today too.

But almost all the zerks are leaking at the threads so ive decided I'm gonna pull them back off and attempt to re-tap the holes. Not happy with that but oh well. I kinda forgot they were wonky when I first installed them but they've held up and not leaked, at least till now. One got completely stripped out so it's gotta be done now.

Picked up my rack today too. Hopefully next week I'll have her buttoned down. Ugh.

Forgot to add some updates along the way while she was down for repairs... At least she's back on the road. For now.. Still having some issues with my steering. Got some binding going on turning right. Doesn't seem to be debilitating so I'm gonna procrastinate chasing that down for a while. Thought it was my uniballs, but pretty sure it's just the reman'd rack I put in.. Sigh idk, oh well.. Done worrying about it for a while after all I did.

    Little list of previous repairs/issues:
    -oem LBJ's/Oreilly tie rods installed
    -Alignment
    -started chasing front end wobble
    -wheels balanced
    -wobble remained
-discovered leaking rack at input shaft
-parked her; began front end tear-down for maintenance
-sourced used pass side 4x4 4runner abs spindle to replace my worn spindle(due to play in inner ball joint race causing play in slug adapter).
-had Napa press in new oem bearings and swap hubs on 4runner spindle
-had to trim 4runner dust shield a hair to refit caliper(due to minor differences)
-rebuilt/cleaned camburg uppers and uniballs; replaced loose zerks; greased;reinstalled
-Sourced Napa re-manufactured rack and pinion; installed; clean reservoir&hoses/refill/bleed system
    -2nd Alignment
-binding in steering discovered when turning right.
-suspected uniballs;removed again; still like new..(?)
-Now suspect rack and pinion as binding culprit. Will tend to that at a later date...
