nikon D40 or D3000?

    oil change...
    yea, the d5000 has the rotate'able screen which would be nice and takes HD video...other than that its pretty much the same as the 3000.

    cannon or nikon you wont be disapointed.

    Not entirely true. The D5000 has a better sensor. The D5000 has more in common with the D90, only without all of the extra buttons and the top lcd.

    For an amateur photographer though, most people would never be able to tell the difference between a picture taken with any of those cameras.

    So, I'd ge the D5000 if you want Live View or the swivling screen (movie mode is worthless). if those don't matter to you, get the D3000.

    smart! I got my D5000 refurbishe andgot a free 3 year warranty. Otherwise, I probably would've gone with tthe D3000, as well.

    Oh nice! I did a bunch of online shopping and saw that wal mart had the d3k for $100 cheaper than best buy. I printed out a sheet and took it to best buy to price match and got best buys nice protection plan

    nope its not.... i got both... the d5000 has the same sensor as d90..

    i want me a d3000 now:eek:. i just came back from checking two places that carry the d3k here on island..one place had it for 699.99 and the other had it 899.99:eek:.

    walmart online has it at a nice price..its just that i need a few extra hundred:(.
    also ebay has some good deals too. i cant wait.

    i disagree with everything he says....

    I got both, but no this was 8 months ago when i first started using DSLR's, Right now the d3000 is in the box just sitting there.

    but one thing i didnt like about the D3000 was shooting in low light without flash:eek: but a good prime MIGHT fix that.


    EDIT: i got a good deal on the D5000 brand new....guess

    dude you didnt have to buy a d5000 for low light.

    you coulda just bought a SB600 speedlight and you woulda been set! :laugh:
