keep the D7000 and buy a lens. you have it already, and the tokina is a great lens but you need a camera that has a built in auto focus motor. which your D7000 has.

I also have a D80 though which does have an internal focus motor. Hmmm, what to do..

Haven't used the D80, but I don't think its low light capabilities are anywhere near the D7000s.

If you shoot at night a lot ill go for the d7k, if not just keep it and by some lenses.

Oh no doubt, I did some iso noise comparisons and it's ridiculous at how much the D80 lacks low light perfomance.

@cone I don't typically shoot that much at night but being that I live in Alaska the weather here is grey a lot of the days. And of course the winters last a long time.

I suppose I could sell my 16-85mm VR for about $400 and save up for the 17-55mm? Or even the 24-70mm for future FX use.

    I just got the D7000 with a Nikkor 28-300 f3.8-5.6 on it to replace a D60.

I originally shot film (circa 1980 or 81) with a Contax 137 MD Quartz, then moved to a Nikon F4S. I joined the digital revolution with a couple of point and shoot (Sony and Mavica) to learn a little about digital before jumping into the Nikon DSLR camp. Am loving it and look forward to learning this camera and its' capabilities !
