Was driving this thing around before I got my taco, was definitely a fun car, Subarus are great when taken care of, don't let the mod bug hit you to hard on it.

What do they do? lower or raise the car?

I'm purposely staying as ignorant as I can, and not joining any forums so I don't end up modding this car. As it is, it's a bit rusty in the quarters, and I honestly just want to keep is as nice as I can as a daily!

Should lower ever so slightly. Probably less than 1/4". But more stifferness.

So... my advice for running Mobil1 in a Subaru that calls for 5W30. I've always found that Mobil1 5W30 is thinner than other oils, so I always recommend Mobil1 10W30.

Gonna modify this so that it fits. I want the bike rack I have to be up higher, and allow me to have a better departure angle

Just gotta cut and weld about 3” extra of length to the shank

I load my bikes on the roof of my Subies. But mostly because I have so many roof mounted racks. LOL!

Haha I do too usually! I rebuilt my Thule sidearms and T2 with new ratchet assemblies, and I absolutely love them. I'm actually using the hitch for once, because I'm mounting kayaks on the roof and bikes on the hitch.

Before I had my RTT, I could do Kayaks on the Prinsu and Bikes on the Hitch, but not anymore lol I tried Stuffing the Kayaks under the softopper but they barely fit with the Spare tire being in the way lol

Well, I bought this raised hitch adapter for our trip this weekend to the poconos.

I needed a 2" reciever for my bike rack, and I liked this raised version because it helped my departure angle a lot.

Unfortunately, it didn't fit. So I made it fit :)

    IMG_9498[1].jpg

    Cut it strategically:
    IMG_9523[1].jpg

Cut some scrap steel up, and had my friend weld it together for me! I also sandblasted it to prep for paint
    IMG_9525[1].jpg

    Test Fit:
    IMG_9532[1].jpg

    Primer:
    IMG_9534[1].jpg

Painted and mounted. Ready for adventure!
    IMG_9536[1].jpg

My old Thule T2 was the only casualty this weekend.... Dang rust haha
    IMG_9651[1].jpg

Only thing I want to do is drill another hole closer to the rear bumper on the 2" receiver portion.

This will enable the hitch to slide closer to the rear bumper, and not hang off the back as much.
