added extra tie downs in bed, the tool-less 32oz cupholder mod, fog lights in process...
After reading this several times and ordering the wrong parts a couple times I still haven't completed this myself lol so I don't have much to offer you, except if you look at the pictures on post #277 you can see how he tapped into the blue wire. The blue wire stays in place but you tap into it with one of the wires from your switch (his is green in the picture but if you are using a different switch yours might not be green)..see post #275 for his explanation on that

You can snap off the bottom of the steering column housing pretty easy, then unplug the harness and cut/tap the wire to run it to a regular fog light switch in the oversized hole on the left. That's what I did anyway.

I only did that so I would have the fog light indicator in the cluster.

Oh, interesting, @willconltd. What are the benefits of tapping from the steering column rather than pin 26 in the OP?

I thought Nitori's method also got it to light up on the cluster

Nitoris method lights up the cluster yes. You can also get to every thing you need to access for installing a switch via the switch panel on the left of the steering wheel if you want.

I didn't have to pull the dash apart at all. Its the same wire, it starts at pin 26 in the picture and ends at the steering column.

This is very helpful. From the bed lights, did you tap green or beige?

The green wire, but it’s just to power the light on the switch.

reviving post a few years later, total shot in the dark. glad to see someone else has done this in their truck. Have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 access cab in grey like yours. Where do I look to see if I am pre-wired? Dying to install some fogs and super OCD that I need the OEM stalk switch, do not want an aftermarket button lol

Don’t know if it’s been covered, but all the fog light stuff from a 2016 will fit a 2021. I transferred everything from a 16 4cyl MT to a V6 auto. Only difference was dealing with fender flares, and unplugging sensor in grill.

Anyone do this for a 2021 SR? Going to go with the dash switch but have bed lights installed.

I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever, so even successfully taking the air dam off was a confidence booster for me. I finished this install with the amber Morimoto's last night. I still have a couple tweaks to make, but everything works and I didn't royally f-up my beloved Taco. Thanks to everyone on this thread!

Are you attempting this mod or just wanting to add fogs and picked this thread to ask? There’s a big difference in how to connect this or another switch. Op has the details for this mod and an oem switch but it sounds like you need to read it again, maybe a few times.(sorry if this sounds mean but it often takes a few readings for it to click). This mod uses the switch to connect a computer terminal to ground. It doesn’t actually connect to the fog lights at all. Buried in the thread are discussions of the problem using an aftermarket switch instead(because of how the leds are wired inside aftermarket switches). There are other threads detailing anytime fog lights or how to wire something so it only comes on w/high beams using aftermarket switches.

Does anyone know what screws I can use to mount the fogs to the truck body?

Plastic screws are similar to pan head wood screws but with a blunt tip. #8 is close. You might find them at an automotive outlet.
