I do not have one of these harnesses in hand yet shown in this picture to determine but from looking at the picture it has 2 wires going to the green connector which connects to the back of the external fog light switch which is shared with the illumination postive and negative from the cargo/deck switch and 2 loose pigtail wires that go to nothing. According to the first post of this thread for a non prewired SR it still needs a suitable ground and a pin going to pin 26 in the M6 connecter if using a external oem switch since it does not have that blue wire there. So is that not correct when using this harness for a non prewired SR?

That particular harness only has illumination tapped from D35 (Cargo Lamp switch connector)
If you're going to use it then follow @hanlan75 advise on post #834

Even though I had the relay pre installed I am not pre wired, I am missing the wire @ pin 26 on the white connector.

Now on to sourcing the wire.... The fun continues.

Check your local dealer, mine had the terminal wire the next day for like $30. I thought it was pricey. After the parts counter saw what it was, they knocked it down to like $20.

I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around $30 for a wire with a piece of metal on the end. Going to research some and see if I can find a cheaper alternative solution.

Yeah, you might find an alternative, but how is that going to take? And what if it doesn’t quite fit? With this, you know it works, yes, it’s pricey and it’s done.

Hey guys, sorry to revive an old thread.

I bought a 2023 Tacoma Trail edition a few months back and planned to add in fog lights. I've been researching the topic and this thread (+ other threads) for probably 4 months now. I've gone through all the pages here until my eyes hurt and finally pulled the trigger to buy everything and dive in.

    Purchased parts:
    Part Number Description
    52128-04020 Cover, FR, Bumper HO
    52127-04020 Cover, FR, Bumper HO
    90167-50063 Screw, Pan Tapping
    PT413-42191 Black LED kit
    82114-04010 Wire, Engine Room
    90080-87026 Fog Lamp Relay
Cali Raised OEM style LED Switch
Cali Raised Plug and Play switch illumination harness

Added Relay to fuse box, routed cable + connected engine Y harness behind grill. Connected both harness ends oriented properly to both fog lamps. Added the plug and play illumination harness to cargo light connector and then to cali raised switch. Off the switch, I connected green cable to T tap on M6 pin 26, red wire off switch to a ground bolt above I saw previously used in the thread.

With headlights fully on, I get illumination of switch, when pressed the fog light indicator pops up on dash but I do not get any fog lights on.

Did I miss anything blatantly obvious?

    Thanks,

Haha... thanks for the quick responses. I can only hope it's this easy of a fix!

I don't recall seeing the fuse mentioned too often in here other than seeing a 15 amp fuse called out at one point. It's easy to lose track when everyone is doing their own variation of this mod to make it work. I definitely was not tracking/figured the relay was the only missing part in the fuse box. I will look later when I'm home.

Thanks for the quick replies, guys! I'll report back later.

Perhaps for some reason your fog light fuse is missing. However if you find the FOG FR 15A fuse is already installed as I think most everyone else did, check to see if your fog relay clicks when you actuate the fog switch. If it doesn't, check the fuse to see if it’s blown. If it does click, check post #285 & 286 for someone with a similar problem. His harness connector wasn’t making a good connection.

thanks for the info, prior to seeing this message I checked my engine fuse box and saw the 15a fuse in the FOG FR location. I looked quick at the underside of the dash to confirm there was not a fog fuse location there. After not seeing one I decided to pull the fuse out and ensure it was not blown. It looked solid so I reinserted it. I also disconnected and reconnected the harness. Started the engine up turned lights on and hit fog switch. The lights slowly flickered to life on both sides starting dim and getting brighter before staying solid. Switched between the light stalk options and button on/off but it appeared to come back solid on each time no issues.

thanks everyone for the quick responses and this great thread of info. Really took the guess work out of the job!
