Zero issues returning it. They couldn't figure out a part number, and wanted to order me a 0R010 stalk based on their information. I had to show the guy this thread for an answer, ha.

Ah jeez dude, I can try to find you the part number, but you aren't gonna like the answer.

It's an integral part of the dash harness. You gotta replace the WHOLE HARNESS for those 2 wires. That means strip your center console out, strip the entire dash out, and replace.

You're also looking at $2,000+ for that full wiring harness.

My advice: learn to love the button.;)

I don't think it's difficult at all. Nitori did the hard work trying to figure what goes where, now it's just matter of following his directions.
I installed ridgids on my SR using his guide, only thing I had to take it to the dealer was installing the stalk. I didn't want to mess around with airbag

I finally got around to this today, it was a breeze. I was going to snap pictures of the steering wheel removal, but this video VERY similar
    .
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jllh2VjM4H8

There are a few more connectors for our truck relative to that Hilux in the example , so just be sure anything coming from the clock spring is disconnected from the steering wheel. Otherwise, pulling the wheel off with one of those connectors still in place could potentially ruin the clockspring.

The clockspring has three plastic tabs holding it to the stalk assembly. One at the top, and the other two are about 120 degrees apart. They are very easy to see.

The stalk assembly took me a few minutes to figure out ... just lift on these three tabs in the picture below and it'll come right off.

    Few more pictures.

My install was slightly different, as I put in Baja Designs Squadron R Sports. For completion sake, here is the thread for that ..

Thanks @Nitori ! I would have never done this myself without folks like you on here.

another question about factory stalk, do you guys have a picture of pinouts - talking about 0R020 - assuming thats the one with the fogs and no auto, have 2 extra pins for white and blue ? quessing thats the 0R010 stalk is with auto and fogs and 3rd pin, also if its a matter of connecting pin 26 (blue wire) with the ground to fire the fogs. do i get same result running that wire from ecu up to the steering wheel and install it in stalk connector instead of dash switch and the white wirec just tp the ground ? anyone can confirm that ?
also if yes - how to find terminal fix part number that goes to turn signal switch

Anyone know if this wiring harness I found on eBay would work?

Wow, what a great write up. Rather than replacing the entire harness to have the new stalk switch work with non-pre wire, would it be possible to just replace the plug with one that has the additional ports and add the two wires outside the existing harness wraps? It would mean pulling the wires from the existing plug and swapping them to the new plug(can this even be done?)then adding the extra wires. You'd have to source the plug somehow as well. I'm probably missing any number of things.

My SR is prewired. But I tapped pin 26 wire found out pin 26 is always hot - I measured it to about 7 volt. If I ground it according to the instruction, will it short circuit anything?

OK so it's basically the same exact style of switch, they are just assuming you are switching a positive load as opposed to going ground switched.
Let's get this bad boy back out:
On your Diagram, pin 3 (RED 2) would hook to Green Wire, Pin 4 (BLACK) would hook to Beige Wire
Pin 1 (GREEN) would hook to Pin 26 Body ECU, and Pin 2 (RED 1) would hook to appropriate ground.

No. Pin 26 is controlled by the body ECU- if you click that switch in it is simply telling the body ECU "Turn the fog lights on when appropriate" and the body ECU will do so. This is how pressing your fog light switch does not turn the fogs on when your headlights are off, and also how the body ECU clicks the fogs off when you hit your high beams.

This method is controlling pin 26 exactly as it is controlled on a truck that came with the fogs from the factory.

You are correct - My fog lights are working now and nothing got shorted.

Your explanation is very appreciated. Thank you.

Logic highs or buffered/high impedance inputs are + voltages all the time.
Meaning they are not direct 12 volts.

    Do exactly what nitori says.
Get the factory harness ($50), plug in the relay ($12), and ground the wire to a switch ($5) or get the stalk. That simple. 45 minute job.
Fogs better than factory at a lower cost.

Here is something I'd like to share. I found the factory harness a bit pricey and I had some leftover wiring sitting around, so I rigged my own harness for less than 10.00.

These are the parts you need:

    2 x H11 H8 Headlight/Fog Light Female Adapter for 1.99
1 x Side Marker Light Pigtail Connector Fits Toyota Tacoma for 7.59

The H11 connects to the fog light, and the side marker pigtail connects to the engine room harness.

Nitori, Nice write up easy to follow. However once complete, with headlights on, push switch, bummer fogs do not turn on. Pulled fogs and wire to 12 v and they light. If I ground ECU pin 26 no lights with headlights on, tried another relay as well. Any thoughts? 2017 Tacoma SR not prewired.

Is your dash lighting up with the little "fog lights" icon when you ground pin 26 w/headlights on?

That little guy should light up green (as well as the other "bulb" indicator underneath and to the left to indicate that your lights are on)

If you DO NOT see that indicator, double check to make sure you are grounding the right pin, and that your ground is a good ground. The Body ECU is somehow not getting the ground signal.

If you DO see the light, your problem is somewhere after the body ECU. Since you checked the relay already, check to make sure that Toyota hasn't gotten wise to giving us a free fog light fuse ( ) and that it hasn't been accidentally blown if it is there.
